How To Use Locking Pliers (Vice Grips) Tutorial

Thank you! I am going to be using this against some delicate items and really wanted to make sure I knew how to use them first. I don't know what I'd do without these instructional videos!

Thanks should have watched this before I smashed my thumb nail between the handle and release tab. Really cross that girls in my age group back in the 19..? had to do domestic science instead of tech drawing, metal work, wood work etc ... Glad we have progressed!

I didn't find this video helpful. I needed an explanation in minute details on how to use locking pliers. Parts of the locking pliers were very well explained but not the mechanics of how to use the pliers.

My new pliers were very tight. Once I saw how to push the lever to open them up it was ok. I was not sure and did not want to break them with too much pressure the wrong way. Thanks!

I've turned my bolt a lot and pressed the squeeze part , but I can't get the wrench to open

Question - once the pliers are "locked", are they supposed to not be able to be opened unless the lever is used? Because the pair I just bought seems to open easily from the "locked" position without using the lever, which makes it feel like the lever is redundant? Or is it just easier to push down to release than to pull apart? (I can see how the lever would make releasing the pliers one-handed much easier)

thanks so much--just wish the handles had some type of gripper stuff on them--my hand keeps slipping when I'm closing it

Make sure you use another wrench or plier to hold the other end otherwise you may break the pipe inside the wall

I used this video to help remove an incredibly stuck and stripped screw. Didn't realize how much more powerfully these vice pliers are than normal ones.
