DTS-HD Master supports 24Bit and 192 kHz. But that is perhaps true of pure music records. however, the limitation may be 96 kHz. on 5.1?
Ответитьshould not things like Blu-ray pure audio . and DVD audio be able to have 24 bit in pure PCM ?
ОтветитьOne person said the same about Laserdisc that some movies that were on Laserdisc didn't come on later formats
ОтветитьSony's streaming service bravia core promises up to 80 mbit/s. the downside is that you have to have a higher class Sony TV
ОтветитьThe movie industry needs to make the actual big theatre sized copies available for download to watch locally, for the family-oriented people who are ok with caring about other people.
IMO, since stereo gear for the same money gets better sound quality than 9.only 1, just crank up the audio sample rates, please. That's what will always cheapen the sound of digital audio, and isn't even getting only doubled yet, for movies. Never mind, if you spend 3x as much on just the clocks for your digital audio, you'll just think people were too busy being psycho about playing along with their metronomes to sound analogue.
If you think streaming looks better than physical media I think you need to get some glasses or upgrade your prescription . Physical media will always look better and physical media has no down time like the internet !
ОтветитьPhysical media has better sound and picture quality. Physical media has extras. You actually own physical media that nobody can edit or change. You don't need internet to view physical media. No buffering with physical media. More playback sound options with physical media. There is less depth to the images from streaming videos. You are being ripped off by streaming services.
ОтветитьI still buy my favorite movies on 4K blu ray. It’s the format where you can watch a movie without any post processing.
ОтветитьPhysical Media is the best bar none ....
ОтветитьThey’re just too expensive in India Tbh
ОтветитьWhat about the consumers who have fast enough connection from Fibre internet such as 1gb download uploads speeds package. Can those users get higher quality streaming for 4K HDR? lossless?
ОтветитьI basically just got into the game of buying 4k discs... but I try to only buy them on sale or if I really like the movie (if available). Most discs I buy rn are normal Blu-rays (new and good shape used)
ОтветитьIf you’re going to tell us that streaming has better quality compared to physical media, then sorry but you’re Full of it!
ОтветитьI just got into 4K blue rays and I am glad I did. For me it’s mostly about the mental shift away from streaming, which for me devalued my movie watching from something I do in an intentional way and really savor, to something I do reflexively and unthinkingly to pass time. I love owning my favorites and it gives me joy to see them on the shelf. Also, the special features on a lot of discs have really enhanced my enjoyment of the movies I watch, particularly classics, which have so much richness that I would have missed if I just watched them on a whim on a streaming service. But to each his own! I’m glad there’s a choice.
ОтветитьStreaming anything so I can lose my data cap. Funny how nobody brings up this huge problem for tons of Americans
ОтветитьYes and i will continue to buy physical.
ОтветитьStreaming just doesn't have the quality of a 4k or up-scaled bluray disc.
Ответить4k player disc stills sounds better way better i already compared this i just LOVE the sound of disc and picture quality.
ОтветитьI'm sorry... this debate is pointless. 4K vs Streaming... either way you are watching 3D movies in old flat backwards 2D. what a HUGE step backwards in presentation. 3D Blu-Ray is the best format by far. I can't even imagine watching the Marvel movies in 2D. 3D>4K all day long.
ОтветитьYes. Yes they are. Full stop.
ОтветитьI love collecting Blu-rays and 4K Discs, I like streaming because you can preview newer movies before you want to invest in buying them in case they are not worth buying
Ответитьpeople need to understand the 4k blu ray is the potential definitive version of the movie. if your favourite is on a disc with uncompressed atmos or dolby true hd its going to sound miles better and often have more channels.
ОтветитьI can't believe you used the Disney example in this video, as if streaming beats physical media there. Disney deliberately crippled the disc experience to draw more subscribers to their streaming service. They know very well the disc can do better.
Other than that: both options have pro's and con's.
No due to the price difference for example in the UK. A certain sci Fi series was being sold on a website. 18.99 pounds for blu ray but 39.99 for the 4k version. The slight improvement in the picture and plus the fact that blu ray is still a very good picture means that paying about double simply isn't worth it.
ОтветитьI still buy regular Blu-ray discs. I tend not to purchase 4K Blu-ray discs because the ones I have bought I've seen little to no improvement over regular Blu-ray. I expected a super sharp 4K picture but instead I get an upscaled 2K picture.
My Panasonic GZ950 does a great job upscaling 1080p / 2K content to 4K, so I see little improvement watching 4K Blu-ray movies.
HOWEVER this was with using a PlayStation 5. I'll shortly be getting a Panasonic DP-UB820EBK, which might change my mind!
Junk
1080p streaming and 1080p bluray is better I have no idea why anyone would want an upgrade to 4K technology. It's trash compared to full hd
I'm getting back into buying physical media - I just don't trust companies not to mess with the original content anymore, or eventually remove it for some bullshit reason (Disney comes to mind as offender on both points).
ОтветитьYes the quality is compromised a little bit but it's like 80-90% of physical media quality while saving 60-70% of storage space. And the future codes are improving each generation.
The x264 was good for the past but now we use x265 for 4k and soon in future the industry will switch to x266 or the much better AV1 which will even improve quality and storage issues. But then again any kind of compression will reduce the quality compared to the source material. It's just a matter of how much and the future does looks pretty good with the AV1.
Now the problem with me is that the rights and ownership on the streaming platform. That's a bigger issue to me right now.
I would not buy a 4k blu ray full price in UK. I recently bought a blu ray version of a TV season for 18.99 on a website where the 4k version was 39.99 both new. The slightly better picture quality to me on 4k simply isn't worth that much of an extra outlay . I know is said that 4k has up to 4 times the details but I don't see it or is it just me.
ОтветитьI started collecting 4k media and picked up the Sony x700 4k player as retailers began pulling the media from its stores. Hopefully, we see physical media stick around for a bit longer, but it doesn't look good.
ОтветитьPhysical all the way. I do use the digital copy they provide once in while on vudu or movies anywhere. However once in awhile they ( Vudu ) will have the only 4k dolby atmos movie to stream. Example Crawl wasn't available at 4k physically at first. Same thing with the Black Phone. Thankfully they did eventually came out with the 4k physical.
ОтветитьCooperations dont care if you have a good internet connection etc lol. even if everyone got access to 1gbit and AV1 capable devices they still would compress videos in h.265 to a minimum so they can save on server storage and network bandwith
Ответить"The quality isn't too bad, either." That's not saying much. They have made it way too hard to know what the deal is and how to make sure you are getting what what you want.
ОтветитьJust bought a 4k tv and player, love going back to buying discs!
ОтветитьFor me at as never been about quality but about ownership. Know that I'm equipped with top tier chain of course it is about quality but I still do it for the process. I don't wanna pay big platforms anymore to watch and support 80% junk to enjoy less than 20% quality content
ОтветитьBit rate seems to be physical medias last stand however even this will likely make minimal difference as years go by and speed and latency improves.
ОтветитьDefinitely the physical disc.
Ответить4K on platforms is not 4K after compression. If watching online, the best is 8K, so the visual is better than 4K on disc. If not, physical media is still the king of HT movies.
ОтветитьIn other words, when it comes to digital movie sites like movies anywhere, and streaming tiers, we're literally wasting money paying for "4K"
ОтветитьIF I AM PAYING, I WANT TO HOLD IT IN MY HAND. NEVER BEEN A FAN OF STREAMING
ОтветитьRecently started getting back into physical. They usually don’t have what I want or look worse than a regular dvd (not Blu-ray) and with my logic seeing a new movie costs almost the same as a physical disk (movie theatre) and can keep it forever and watch it whenever you want.
ОтветитьYes but it’s really not a big improvement over Blu Ray but it’s still better than streaming by far.
ОтветитьMuch prefer the physical Blu Ray/4K disc. The choice of sound formats, features and the extra bit rate data just provides better clarity and quality. Discs wins hands down!
Ответить4K Blu-ray are superior to streaming even a standard 1080 P Blu-ray is superior to streaming. Anyone that says otherwise is either paid for by these streaming platforms to go out there and spread misinformation or somebody that is exceptionally delusional. I’ll break it down for you in 2024 all of them streaming services like Netflix Amazon Hulu give you between 5mbps and 12mbps (that is severely compressed and it it doesn’t matter how fast your Internet Internet is) 4K Blu-ray gives you 140mps to 160mps.
ОтветитьI absolutely still buy physical media blu rays as they hold way more value as a whole and you’ll always have your blu rays while streaming is more convenient i can easily notice a HUGE difference in dialogue and overall sound from my sonos setup and the picture is better on some movies overall both are great but for real movie enthusiasts physical media all day!
ОтветитьExcellent-still buy disks, vinyl, tapes…well not tapes but I still have my old ones :-).
Ответить4K is still too expensive imo for the players and the discs themselves. 4K digital is far cheaper. Downside is you don't really own them and the quality is worse.
ОтветитьYes discs are still worth it. The quality of UHD streams is actually quite good but regular HD just doesn't hold up to Blu-ray imo. I think 4K is kind of a gimmick anyway unless you have a huge TV to take advantage of it, Blu-ray is good enough in most cases.
ОтветитьI'm buying more physical media now than I ever have, including 4k Blu-ray, Blu-ray, CDs, and SACDs.
ОтветитьLove the video!! I only buy 4k I love on sale. That way I will be able to keep the movie forever. The rest I will just stream but I agree that eventually streaming will most likely take over the platform. Physical media will be purchased from true enthusiasts.
