Why Apple Music Needs Better Recommendations

I don't necessarily like to dislike songs as much as I like to like songs. Some songs I don't outright dislike like Madonna or Taylor Swift. I can tolerate them but I don't love them. Rap music is something I will dislike. I use likes more because when I like a song it means I am truly in love with the song and want to hear it more often.

I wish occasionally Apple Music would serve you different types of music it thinks you might like and ask you via a popup to like or dislike.

When a playlist is over the recommendations will be nothing like what your playlist was. And that is true if you are listing to artist-specific playlists. Once the playlist ends the first song that is recommended will probably not be by the same artist. It's these little things that need to be fixed not that we need AI to take over and generate better playlists and recommendations.

They need to update the Apple Music design on iPhone. I was considering switching from Spotify to Apple Music as the Apple One subscription looked enticing. But man, the design is fucking lame. Even going to the playlist is an annoying experience where there’s no grid view or no pinning playlists. And you have 3 tabs at the bottom being there to clutter everything up where Spotify has some of those functions within a single tab, making it easier to find things while having a clean interface. Such a shame.

And all that you mentioned is not so bad, because you listen to mostly pop. If you like something different - be ready for a real nightmare!)) Can't even imagine why AM can't fix their child's pain points: genres and recommendations.

Apple Music's quality, app performance and library are the best in my opinion but are not for me or people of my age group (25+). but maybe for teenagers or college students, it is useful. but Apple doesn't do anything to attract them

I always thought Apple and YT compressed songs sounded very similar. It’s Spotify that sounds like every song is mastered by an intern.

The only thing that's holding me in terms of using Apple Music instead of Spotify (even though I just recently switched to an Android device) is that where I live, Apple Music is the only music streaming service that allows family plan (Spotify does not have that here), and I because I am the one that registers for both me and my wife, and the price of 2 accounts add up (compared to Apple's family plan), that just sealed the deal for me.
That being said, Apple Music's AI sucks.

I feel the opposite. I tried all the services and Apple seems to know music the best. They are the only ones when I play early progressive Genesis that plays other progressive music from that area. The rest play 80's pop.

Without any proof, I'm of the opinion that Apple's AI recommendations are purely based on artist promotion deals where money changes hands; and, Apple cloaks this in the proclamation that they (Apple) are 'taste makers'.

Much like Siri, I feel like anything involving AI at Apple is falling behind. Let's hope they announce some major changes at this year's WWDC.

I think they are using artifical stupidity which is the retarded brother of AI. But i like it because AS would be otherwise really sad that AI gets all the attention.

Apple Music is frustrating but until Spotify offers HiFi or Dolby Atmos support I’m not switching back. I miss things like Discover Weekly but the fact that Apple just added Atmos support for Sonos systems for free means I’m not going anywhere. Great value.

Agreed, the sound quality is better than on Spotify. But, but, why is music seamless if I use Apple Music on my Android device, but not on ios! You'd think they could easily rectify this.
