I don’t think you should FORGET or IGNORE the romance, but more understanding of why they’re acting the way they are. You have 2 orphan brothers who lived in the streets, and an Avatar who’s been secluded with adults her entire life. How would they know how to act? Plus they’re teenagers on top of that. Asami does nothing wrong ever, and is really the more normal one of the group. She never had closure with Mako, so she tried again, but I agree, I think she’s just over it now. It all is good from here on out though, which I’m sure you’re starting to see already.

It's not Korra's fault - she doesn't remember ... Mako though - he needs to grow a spine! And Asami - she is amazing for not ending Mako on the spot. As for everyone carrying on - the thing is, there are much bigger issues at hand, so everyone is on edge [except Korra who doesn't know] but the big issue over-rides the rest.

I no joke blocked the romance this season from my memory. I don't remember it being this bad

I've been rewatching this series for the first time since I was a kid, and as soon as this kiss came up, I KNEW you guys would loose it haha!! Was not disappointed. Thankfully season three seems to be MUCH better, both plot and ship wise

I share your sentiment on the romance. I don't know how anyone can say just forget about it. It's part of the show and part of the characters growth. It's very very poorly done. As I've said I don't think the writers knew how to write a female character and they clearly got some bad advice. All the women in the show are anchored by romance. Korra, Asami...even Lin had to be Tenzen's ex. They introduced the twins and they are a great addition but the sister had to be a love interest for Bolin. It's weird man.

The romance might be messy in the series but in some ways very realistic. Especially teen romance. I think the showrunners are trying to tell us that it isn't all about the main plot. They are still just teenagers trying to figure themselves out. Don't worry, all feelings are valid and we can't just not react to it. I just think putting this aspect on the storyline is not out of place. For those who think it is anyway 😅

The romance is real know. I know someone who breaks up and gets back with the same guy like every 2-3 weeks. It's teenages in love. They have no clue what they are doing.

4 groups at fault in regard to the romance situation. 1) - the writers for this mind-numbing subplot. 2)- asami (YES!) she knows mako is an F-boy whos basically cheated on her previously yet shes still throwing herself at him. If I invite a known psychotic murderer to my cabin in the woods and they kill me, yes its the murderers fault but also my fault for putting myself in that situation. 3) - mako for basically being an f-boy that keeps bouncing between these 2 women. 4) - korra for basically doing the same thing as I criticised asami for, but I'll cut her some slack in this specific situation because of amnesia.
It takes 2 to tangle and the same rule applies for bad relationships (outside of abuse). Mako is too indecisive and fickle, and the girls act like he's the only other guy on the planet to date despite how much they've been messed around by him. I prefer TLOK over TLAB but the romance subplot really does drag an otherwise amazing show down sometimes. Though I can cut it some slack only because I know this exact thing happens so often in real life that there's a reason 'loyalty' is at the top of the bingo card for so many women (in regard to traits they look for in men), because many have dated Mako's in the past and ended up being cheated on or the sidechick.

The awkwardness and messy love triangle IS so messy it's DELICIOUS.

the relationship stuff is so bad because its just not realistic, who would just stand there and take that?? they did her so dirty...ANYONE would instantly say something

And I thought Mako finally redeemed himself here.

This is where he officially became the clown of the series, while Bolin took his role.

As someone who is also experiencing this for the first time. Please make this season over quickly 😭

Asami was definitely upset the way Mako pretended like he and Korra didnt break up; but my thinking is that Mako didnt want to take the chance that Korra was mentally stable enough to hear the truth, since she lost her memory (i admit that is a loooooong stretch)

The best parts of this show is the villains Not the Hero. The Heroes has their moments but Not as good as the villains, except for Onulaq.

I wasn't mad at Mako here. Korra just came back and she literally just told him that she's been attacked and basically taken out by a spirit which is why she doesn't remember everything. What was he supposed to do? Tell Korra in front of everybody that they're not together anymore? Like right after she's told him she almost died (and lost her memory). I think it wasn't the right time, that's all
