Great video, as always, thank you! For the level issue: By the specs/manual the Behringer Model D has a max. output level of 0 dBu while the Poly D only has -16 dBu which nicelly matches your observed output level. So this is not an issue with your Poly D. I could imagine that they needed to lower the output level so they could put in the chorus which - in its pedal form - is infamous for being easily overdriven by a line level instrument.

Another great video!
Have two questions for you Starsky.

Do you recommend going with the Model D Eurorack instead of the Poly D with the keyboard?

Is there a Moog Subsequent 37 clone?

Thank you so much for your amazing reviews Starsky.

I love the sound of the Subsequent 37 (at least in demos) but I really would like to have polyphony. How close is the sound capabilities of the Poly D as compared to the Subsequent 37?

Great video as always, can you help with the "accent mode", do I switch it to "0" in the Synthtool app or "52" as you have shown ? Thanks :)

TBH I had 2x Roland SH101s back in the day that sounded more different from one another than these two synths do.

I enjoyed the video; but you seem to be looking for a REAL difference in the two when there really isn't any. Everybody knows they sound as much the same as any two analog pieces of gear can sound. The real question is how much value do the originals have now. I sold mine while I could; thank you very much!!!

The mini looks just as great as mine. I had to do a lot of cosmetic restoration as it was well used when I bought it in ‘80 👍🙂 A nice video.

For that price yo get a realy good synth but it makes me realy sad that the poly the Don't have the Power of the B Model d, i was so Impressed from the Model d an from the poly d i was a little bit dispointed. I like my poly d the but he is not a competition to my Moog LP or to the B Model D, i Use the poly d only for leads and typical detroit techno sounds.

Basically, what you’re paying extra for is the legacy and the American build quality. I think that if you’ve got the money for it, the Moog is worth owning. It’s a collector’s piece that will retain its value far longer. The Minimoog is such a stately instrument. It’s so beautiful and rugged. All that said, I’ll buy a Behringer every time. Love the compact desktop Model D.

att gary fluke on the six wives solo that is in YESSONGS i am 60 per cents certain the rise and fall of the bombs that you are refering to is done by the MELLATRON .I would say it was the 400 model. Mellatrons werent just strings choirs they had special effects also especially for one unit . In journey to the centre of the earth album cover the keyboards behind him were the fender rhodes piano and (hidden) the mellatron had just effects . You can now get a digital unit called the MEMOTRON DIgitally enhanced with cd-r copies to encase the entire library of this amazing instruments merry xmas 2022 to all the moog fans out there

with the new 2022 minimoog reissue coming online a option by behinger is good . its not the filter that creates classic moog sounds its the oscillators all three and all 4 with behringer.

don't you get a bigger useful range of overdrive on the poly-D by lowering the headphones volume? The behringer model D also has a direct mix out that gives another flavor of feedback.

Congratulations on the demonstration!
Considering that you have compared both Behringer synths (Model D and Poly D) to the Minimoog, I would be interested to know which of the Behringer synths (Model D or Poly D) is closer to the sound of the Minimoog?
Thank you !

Really good video. I'm shopping for a synth currently. I come from only using plugins but I'd like to try some actual hardware. You pretty much sold me on the Poly D. So now I'm torn between the Poly D and Korg Minilogue XD.

I found the levels on the Behringer Deep Mind to be quite low in comparison to most other synths too. Is this a Behringer thing?

The gain from the interface might be less clean and less linear than you’d want for such a comparison. Moog lover here, but in this video, that variable might not be doing ol’ Pauly D any favors.

The video was kind of cool and thanks for publishing it. 🤔They don't sound exactly the same from a critical technical point of view. 🤨Now the question is: 🤔Does the people that buy the music recordings can tell the difference, or does it really matters to them? Or better: Does the people that buy music know what a MINIMOOG D or a Behringer Poly D are? 🤨On the other side, the reality is that the new generation of "musicians", don't even know how to play a real music instrument!😁 Bwwahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!! 😆😆🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😅😅😁😆😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😄😄😄So why someone cares, about the authenticity of the sound that an instrument might produce nowadays? 😄😄 If you ask to a keyboardist from the 70' or from the 80' if this two objects sound similar, this question might have absolute relevance, 🤭only inside the musicians world. But not even in that era a goo 99% of the pop music listeners might be able to tell the differences, especially after listening post mix music .🤨

I own a poly d and love it but I reckon the poly d's filter doesnt quite get the low end chunkiness right. A resonant filter sweep on the model d is like oooorrrwww, on the poly d its like ooooowwwww. thats as best as i can describe it.

The real deal is the real deal. It just has a slightly warmer, colorful character. The behringer is a bit flatter, almost wave table digital sounding. Some sounds are near perfect, but some are just plain old sad copies. For the price? I can live with those differences. Nothing effects can't make up for.

Love your humor🙏😎💚😎 for me you did the best comparisons between Booroland products and the originals. I need to decide the one I will buy after the Deepmind, I will not stand without those analogs for some deep sounds coming from the 80's, for example, pump ones without rhythmic.
I need a comparison between model D and minimoog originals, I guess this have been done.
I have a problem, having already six keyboards, including a Juno 6, and two midi master 88 piano keyboards, so perhaps I will prefer to have a rack more than this ten kilo of Behringer, but I love the sounds and the wood design. The price between the two is not the same, so I must choose by sound, first: Do I need the sounds? Do I need them separately from other synthesis I have?
The goal for my studio is to limit it to 2x2=four square meters of plain technology in a wood tiny house I'm Going to build.
I will have to let perhaps my fm synthesis at home, as Dx, Tx, 7, Dx 21 , or as the Juno 6, as I will have the sounds from the deep mind, and more!.... I will let it at home like a retro museum with the Yamaha Dx's, with also heavy computers, win95 that run the sysex, old sound cards.
