Finally a subject close to my problem. I have hearing loss, I am a musician, why I hear music out of tune? I am not able to tune my guitar by myself anymore, people complaint that I sing flat, It is so embarrassing, my pitch is not even relative pitch, I used to have perfect pitch when I was young. Many audiologist are good but not many relative with music and singing or Pitch. Help.. Anyone with similar symptoms? It's so frustrating not able to enjoy hearing music.

Update: My Resound One HA's make my flamenco guitar sound awful, brassy, distorted. Audiologist set one mode where high frequencies are muted. Guitar sounds better but sound is "deadened". Guitar sounds best without hearing aides. I am 84 and have typical high frequency hearing loss, am stuck with this audiologist.

With my Philips 9030's, I've found that using the noise reduction program (all noise reduction values are set to max in this program) results in much less tinny of metallic sounds from my guitars, especially the acoustic ones. Whereas the "music" program, which has all noise reduction set to off is horrible for live music. Yes there's more treble with the music program but make guitar notes sound distorted and horrible. I will sometimes bump the volume up 1-2 dB in the noise reduction program but more than that and metallic nature of an acoustic guitar becomes annoying and not real sounding. I think all acoustic guitars have some metallic sounds of the metal strings hitting other frets depending on the action height, relief and how hard the person is playing, especially with a pick as opposed to the fingers only. And the HA can really pick this up without any noise reduction to damp that sound. Just my experience so far. Wish I could afford to try the Widex HA since I've heard good things about them from other muscians.

Hi and Thanks
I specifically have had issues with higher notes on a steel strung guitar- they sound double or some echo and reverb, I have currently an oticon more 1, are different manufacturers better or is it just about optimizing the adjustments in the music program? I notice Brian has the same issues

I got a standard slope medium hearing loss and am an active musician playing rock music. I'd like to use my hearing aids on stage both to get a good sound experience while also working as a hearing protection. I'm testing a pair of Phonak Lumity P90 with vented domes. I got my audiologist to configure an on-stage music program with all features disabled and a 360 degree pickup range. I will try that out together with power domes (for protection). I don't seem to be able to find out the bitrate of my current HA's so will see how it works out.
Now, my question is if I am on the right track or if I can optimize my on-stage sound experience in any other way?
Thanks for a great video.

Nobody mentions what I think is going on. I think that hearing aids are modulating the high frequency sounds with about a 50 hz tone to produce a buzz sound to make those high frequencies more hearable. That may be called frequency shifting, but really isn't. It definitely helps with speech, but kills music.

Sucks we ain’t got no cures for hearing loss though. All that work people put in and that range of hearing gets shitted on what a dense way of making music the? Hurts a lot I wish I can make music everyday and not deal with ear issues WHAT A GREAT LOIFE

I plan to take these recommendations to my audiologist when I see her next month. I'm not sure I agree with the one about reducing compression. I sometimes wish my hearing aid did more compression, since I find I'm constantly turning the volume up and down on the playback device to avoid distortion of the loud passages, yet be able to adequately hear the soft passage.

Halo I just suddenly realised  I can't hear low frequency in my right ear n it feels like blocked about few days ago, at first I thought my earbug was faulty  but then realised its my own hearing issue, I'm super upset as I'm a big music lovers on music/songs with good bass n beats, now I can't hear the bass n music sounded so rough n tasteless i dont enjoy them anymore. I've just gone to a ENT speacialist who doesn't look promising, she said it's sudden sensisory loss the chance of improving is only 30%. Do u think hearing aid can help me gain back my enjoyment to quality good bass music..? I heard that it is super difficult to be successful with low frequency hearing aid, this just upset me further... Hope to hear from u or anyone who could share n advise, many thanks.

what about singing, I have a unilateral hearing loss (no hearing in one ear). I sing in the Barbershop style and my hearing aid does not help me in that respect. I have a Starkey Livio 1200

Update, My audioligist changed the settings for my Resound One's so that the one button press gives one chime and a normal speech setting, the next press gives two chimes and a "restaurant" setting, the next press gives three chimes and a guitar play/music setting where my nylon string guitars now sound normal without brassy or other strange reverb sounds from strings. What a relief! BTW, my audiologist was unwilling to review Pro Fit recommendations from this video, don't know what adjustments he made.

I'm a pro guitarist who experienced a SSHL in my left ear in January 2022. Steroids brought the volume back but not the clarity. I understand that hearing aids are designed primarily to improve volume. Any thoughts on how - or if - hearing aids can improve clarity?

I am getting used to my new Resound One hearing aids that replaced my previous Resound hearing aids. The Resound One HA's distort the sound of my nylon string flamenco guitar, so that the sound is "raucous" with strange "resonance" ( not fret buzz). I didn't have this problem with previous Resound aids. The problems disappear with hearing aids removed but sound is "deadened". Any recommendations on possible adjustments to fix this problem for my audiologist will be greatly appreciated.

Worthless. No comparisons, nothing to suggest other than esoteric settings that are generally unobtainable by the end user.

The low end is distorted to the point that I can’t hear bass lines in my car and almost impossible to play with my band.

Hi! I play 7-, and 8-string guitar, 7-string acoustic guitar, and octave mandolin. I wear Phonak Naida Q70UP btes (I have basically a profound loss). My audiologist gave me a music setting that mimics analog HAs (as best she could). I've noticed that (beyond just how loud acoustic instruments really are!) my acoustic sounds more, "natural," while my electrics sound horridly pitch-altered (1/2 step lower and higher, in addition to the original note). Why do acoustic instruments sound, "better," than electric, and what can I ask my audi to do, to make them sound more like my acoustic??

Hi doctor, I am blind from birth and latened hearing impaired musician. I have a moderate to seveere hearing loss and still perform mostly for my church. For about almost four years, I've used a resound 9-- series cala resound pair of hearing aids. These hearing aids have pretty decent music sounding quality. I especially like the audio streaming. It is truly a game changer. I also like the live listen for potential assistive listening like a personal fm system. Is there a way to get rid of latency with live listen feature? The delay is terrible. Also, is there a way to use my iphone as a in the ear monitor? Thanks for sharing this and I look for to your response. Lance
