ppl buying these cards would have a bit better cpu to properly run these cards better as the cards are $400-$700. Dont think somone with these cards in mind will own a $180 cpu though it is decent for a budget cpu

I have a bunch of rigs but in one i have is a 3900x and radeon vii then put an xt in keep it in for 2 weeks then put the 7 back in. They are close in performance but the 7 is faster and responds better to overclocking. I collect gpu’s and im glad i got a 7 i love the all metal design and 16gb’s of vram but its really a workstation card that can game. It didn’t get much love and had a very short life. It will probably be really hard to find in about 5 years. My main gaming rig is a delided 8700k 5.1ghz and a strix 2080ti oc, and a 2700x and strix 2080. Those are my 3 newest rigs but have about 7 builds. When it comes to amd reference cards you really need to undervolt to get the best out of them. Or you can go down to about 970mv for either card for the best temps and acoustics and its only a little slower than stock. It really helps on the tjunction temps and keeps them far away from throttling temperatures. And i have the 7 in a silver phantex evolve x case and its matches the 7’s color pretty closely. I picked up the 3900x over the 9900k but will still probably pick up the next generation of the i9 for my 2080ti.

Your cpu is bottlenecking unfortunately causing this comparison to be not as precise but a good show of example of middle tier cards are just as good if your cpu isnt top of the line

Radeon VII is not worth it if you are ONLY gaming.
The price is marketed towards the Developers out there that ALSO want to game, but do not want to have to buy a PRO card + a GAME card.

RX 5700 XT is ONLY a GAME card.
You CAN Dev on it, but the VII would win that hands down.

Conclusion:
Get the VII if you are gaming AND 3D modeling.
Get the 5700 XT if you are gaming and NOT 3D modeling.
simple. you are paying that ~$300 extra for a card that excels at gaming AND 3D work.

Raedon vii is more future proof with its 16gb of vram, but it’s not exactly for gaming, the gaming name is for marketing

The Radeon VII (16GB | HBM2) is not a Gaming GPU is for Comuting,Composing etc.... you can gaming with it yea like a Quatro RTX 8000 (48GB | GDDR6) but the price is not worth for gaming ^^
The Radeon VII is a beast for rendering. The 5700XT is good for Gaming (Price) you see the differance ? :D my english is bad i know xD

Suggestion: Instead of min and avg frame rates, I would suggest using percentiles if you have data for it. It tells more about what the performance is going to feel like than straight averages.

Both are great cards made for different purposes. If your going for gaming and gaming only the 5700xt is the best pick. Great performance and pretty cheap. If you do video editing in blender, animating etc then spending more on the Radeon 7 would be worth it. It would destroy the 5700xt in video editing with its 4000+ stream processors and 16GB of HBM2 yet again made for a different purpose.

Radeon VII wasn't meant to be sold as a gaming card. It was supposed to be a compute card, like a Titan or Quadro, but AMD couldn't find enough customers for it, so they repackaged it and unloaded their excess inventory on unsuspecting gamers, even marketing limited edition cards, with higher clocks, to pull in more sucke...errr...customers. They cost too much money when they were new, and still cost too much money on the secondary market. They also draw a lot of power, for the performance that you get. You're much better off with the 5700 XT, or 2070 Super, if you're a person who is always behind the curve, and doesn't buy brand new cards when it's time to upgrade.
