Maybe they launched the missle to stop Sonic from getting the warhead. As far as they're concerned he's a blue magical atomic monster who can drain power from chaos emeralds which are like mini reactors, who knows what he could do to some weapons grade plutonium or what ever. Why take the chance?

I loved Sonic Adventure 2 back in the day, but your videos make me appreciate it even more.

My one complaint on metal harbor is the stability fins on the missile being near the tip, above the center of mass.

Man you didn't mention how you could get off the rocket early if you mash the A button😔

You can also almost entirely skip the rocket part with a spindash jump from where the lil' seal is stationed, it's kind of wonky and sometimes doesn't work out but it's "fairly" reliable lmao

Honestly I always thought the missile was to kill Sonic by destroying the scaffolding with the rocket launching

When you reach the missile section you can see a spring down at the bottom of the missile. Can you reach that and does it do anything?

if people don't like automation why are they playing sonic? Sonic's main theme is moments of automation

Bro tip: you can also do a super bounce against the missile for a stylish shortcut. It's a life saver in multiplayer races, so surely it can trim time during the launch sequence.

Damn I love this game

Green Forest was no problem for me and it didn't give me adrenaline or anything like that.

I only played SA2 recently (literally finished Hero Story today) and I only remembered the title of this video as I loaded onto the stage and saw the stage name. I thought the stage would be pretty good… and then the music hit me. Such a banger stage oh my GOD

The light shoes are easily the best power-up in this game. It not only opens up more routes in every Sonic/Shadow level, it makes them infinitely more fun by increasing the speed you move from the standard "speed of sound" to the absolutely ridiculous "speed of light" for a few brief moments.

Actually, taking the top path in the missile escape is quite easy if you can learn Sonic's Physics.

Fun fact: You can ditch the board at the end of the air duct by jumping as you hit the speed panels. This lets you use homing attacks to back track all the way to the top of the tower on foot, grab all the goodies you missed, and then run back down. You can also spin dash backwards.

What was Sonic's plan exactly? If there was no missile, he would've been screwed.

Just commenting to note that while the 'runway' is technically a runway, it's actually the deck of an aircraft carrier.

Did Eggman arrive at the A.R.K. yet at this point? Is it possible the missile was intended to launch into space and target the A.R.K., and Sonic just arrived coincidentally?

Seriously though, the level design in this game looks a lot better than I remember it. After seeing that aircraft carrier in this video, I gotta say, "I'm impressed."
