I’m still uncertain! I have an iPad Mini 5th Generation. I don’t game. I don’t edit videos (I do want to do a bit), I don’t watch movies. I watch, or listen to music (usually without headphones), and my biggest use is for Procreate. I’m just a hobbyist though. My Mini is 64GB and is nearly full. I find it a little small now for drawing. I’m confused about the pencil. I usually charge with a pencil dock. I have a little adapter that came with my pencil a couple years ago—is that what I’d need? The 10th Gen, with 256GB is $799+13% tax; the 9th Gen with 256GB is $619 + tax here, so that’s not a budget item for me! I just wonder if they’ll have something else new soon?

…from my 6th generation iPad. There were so many options before choosing which to upgrade to. I chose this one for the combination of speed and price. It would be nice if 128gb was the base size though. Love the blue.

I've been going back & forth between the two, especially since I realized that with my student discount, the iPad 10 is only $18 CAD more than the 9th gen when the 9th gen is full price. But I think I will go for the 9th gen. I'll be using it primarily for taking notes in university so I'll use the gift card that Apple gives with the student pricing for the Pencil and then buy the adapters to charge it separately from the iPad. In Canada, with my discount, the 9th gen iPad will only be $488 so that seems super worth it to me. Thanks for this video! It was super helpful!

i have an ipad mini 1 so i'm looking for an upgrade.

My situation is kinda funny there. I bought the iPad 10 256gb monthes ago and After week or light use, had to send it back because of many dead pixels. Also glare was atrocious and the black was washed out as hell. My GFs' iPad 8 had a better screen tho !
So now I'm here watching again the same videos I ended up watching before my first purchase.
No way i'm buying the 10 again, but it's hard for me to justify giving a bigger budget as I need 256 gb. In France, Apple doesn't sell refurbished iPad that's a bummer.
Guess I'll go for iPad 9 256 gb hoping it will last as long as my iPad mini 4 (still alive, just 16gb full & laggy :D)

Thank you. I was wondering whether to replace my iPad9 with the 10 and recycle mine in the family, but the price change was shocking. Yes I saw they changed a lot in terms of specs but neither of them actually spoke to me, except finally complying to the obligation of moving to USB-C, as required by EU. In the iPad9 they complied by using the trick of putting the USB-C on the other side of the charging cable, just in case anyone wondered wtf. Back to the subject, I looked at your video to see it in real time and yes, I'd love to have the better resolution and camera placement for calls, which didn't come out as obvious from the list of specs. Other than that, the design change, the very small screen increase, the weirdness of charging the pencil, the same memory size, they are all meh. Not worth all that money difference.

The real question for me is whether the iPad 10th generation is worth CAD327 (USD246). That is the equivalent in 16 months worth of banking fees. What the heck am talking about? Sixteen months is the minimum time to have open a current account at the Royal Bank of Canada, which is giving them away for new account depositors.

For me the issue is this - ipad10 is neither fish nor fowl. It is neither of the iPads are truly want : the mini as a 'pony' and the Pro as a 'workhorse'.

Appreciate your video very much but as I sit here in ‘ipad research hell’ trying to find one my mother will be ok with because she LOVES her 5’th 9.7 but it’s out of space, I don’t believe the 10’th generation has a higher resolution display as you state. I think it has the exact same specs as the 9’th except the numbers are slightly higher because the display is slightly larger. Only pointing this out because I think it’s important to note they are the same quality nits and pixels other than size, thus the 10’s higher ppi. Also noting the ppi do not seem to have improved since my mom’s 5’th! Proud daughter of a techie dad since the 70’s❤️

I want to replace it and was initially thinking the 9th generation because of the price and it’s similarity in style to his other iPad, but I have a question. Do you know if it’s lifespan starts as of the manufacturing date? I would hate to buy a two year old IPad and then have to replace in a couple of years. Or would it’s lifespan start the day I purchase it and use it?

Hay mate, this is a key decision. I'll choose iPad 9 over the 10..Why? because it is more affordable with a still powerful A13 chip plus the 3.5mm jack big for me and besides Apple will still support them for the next 3 years!

After 7 months switching from iPad Mini 5th gen 64GB to Xiaomi Pad 5 256GB, I ended up buying iPad 9th gen 256GB because I feel not well optimised on my Xiaomi Pad 5 on certain games like Genshin Impact which it have a bit laggy here and there. But iPad 9th gen it is pretty smooth and rarely has issues (minor lag still occurs sometimes). Use for at least 2 days now from the date I post these comments.

Larger display yes but same PPI so if anything your stretching the same amount of pixels out over a bigger display but it doesn’t really make it a difference 😊

Its better to wait out with what the 11th gen has, its just 5-6 months away then decide.

Judging from how the CPU goes, it will be on A15 and likely move to 2nd Gen Pencil compatibility, retaining the same form as the 10th Generation.

Upgrading ipads every 3 generations seems to be the sweet spot. Getting a new one every generation is a huge waste of money since 99% of the time they are more of the same...

I bought the iPad 10th gen in blue. The glare is absolutely horrible. I used two different anti flare screen protectors that just made it a little blurry and almost made the display look like a cheap tablet. I ended up switching to the 9th gen simply due to having less glare.

I got the ipad 9th Gen for Christmas and I absolutely love it the main difference at least that I know of is the home button and screen size but they both use the same Apple Pencil and I am very thankful for getting this iPad!

It seems that younger people prefer aesthetics first, whereas older people value a balance between practically and cost with aesthetics being less important. In any event, an iPad will always be an intermediate device mostly used for entertainment and leisure.

My ipad mini 6 works just fine, thankfully at the apple store...i held myself back to not to buy the big big ipad m1.. As i realized macbook are just enough for everything...

just bought the iPad 9th generation last week....for what i need it for, it will be MORE than enough to do what i need it to do.....the 10th generation really isnt worth the $$$ to me......i got the iPad 9 for under $275 with tax.....cant beat that.

The audio and camera do NOT matter to me since i am not using it for audio production and I am not taking pictures or video. i am using it for when i gig and i am keeping my sheet music on it. so those little extra specs dont make a difference to me.

Also LOL with the iPad 10 with the apple pencil.....what was APPLE thinking
