This is one of these type of songs. It’s predictible, cheesy, corny and he’s really trying to copy Eminem here.

Despite having seen this performance several times before, today I was moved and cried even more by your reaction, Toy and Goy 😥💙💛. I'm not usually very attracted to rap songs, but this guy gives me goosebumps when he approaches the cameras with such drama.

Actually, I get a strong feeling that we might have a common sense winner this year. There is no "in your face song" so far. Like in 2011 when Azerbaijan won just coming from nowhere.

For the first time in years I am really happy about "our" choice in Germany. This song is awesome. It is important to know, that Malik wrote the song and lyrics himself and he manages to convey his emotions perfectly. Besides good songwriting the key words to success in ESC are relevance and authenticity.  And "Rockstars" delivers all of that. As I said, Malik conveys a variety of emotions: From agony to anger, from frustration to anxiety. In times of Covid and the Ukraine crisis aren't we all on this emotional rollercoaster ride?  Lyrics like "Look where we are. We used to be the rockstars. Who never thought of no harm. 'Til this thing we call life stopped gleaming. I wish there was a way to go back dreaming" are of relevance to all of us. Not only did Malik write this song, he also performs the song and delivers the message in a credible way without being pandering. And the rap part is stunning and - again - loaded with emotions. He may not win, but this song will certainly finish somewhere on the left side of the scoreboard.

this was the best review up 2 now ... so sweet.... how you develop during the song.... if Eminem and Justin Bieber d be a couple and become pregnant... Malik d be probably the the baby :) song is nice..... radiofriendly but... it doesnt bring me from the chair...

You have 2 Guinea Pigs? 😂 I don‘t hate this song, and HOPEFULLY we won‘t get Zero points. I think we’ll get a few at least…still right side of the scoreboard. I absolutely do hate the rap/spoken word bit…it just goes on for too long and he ends up being very angry and screaming at the audience which is a total turn off for me. The whole national selection was a disaster of bland mediocre „radio friendly“ songs…this song was actually my number 2…number 2 about sums it up for me.

This song is a baby step up from Jendrik (bless him) but, lets face it; it is little more than "a kid does M&M" .
Meanwhile the show contained Jamala singing her 2016 winning song. Riveting.

well, it's better than last year's trash. That being said, there's a truckload of similar rap/sung songs that have hit the German charts over the last few years, so at least it's on brand. It's a little generic for me though.

Guys, if you watched national finals now you would know that almost every of them has some mention to the current situation with Ukraine, they're doing it really well now - Ukranian flags everywhere, incliding some participants' things (like here), peaceful interval acts (already 2 national finals invited Jamala to perform her 2016 song) and etc. The song is not about exactly it, he wrote this a year ago about remembering the old days, thinking they were good but not forgetting that we can make our days now better too (shortly speaking)

After watching most of sub average entries including Germany the bbc must think they have a good chance to finally do well no ones gonna hate on Uk this year because Russia is the enemy uk had to send a decent song

The German public broadcaster NDR has selected 6 from over 900 applications to work on their own pop radio stations - to the exclusion of the public. Diversity in gender, skin color and migration background was more important to them than diversity in genres. The band "Eskimo Callboy", which applied with the song "Pump It", was canceled because the song was not suitable for (their) radio. Only music editors from the NDR and program managers from the pop stations sit in the "expert jury". Despite a petition for a wildcard for EC, which was launched by fans and collected over 128,000 signatures, the NDR refused to be nominated, which means that the German people could only confirm one of the 6 contributions selected by NDR in a vote. They were not able to influence the result themselves.

I really like this. He doesnt deserve zero points but the delegation from Germany deserves zero points for what they done with Eskimo Callboy.

I feel like this will get 0 points in the televote. The jury will probably give it some points. Personally I don't really like this song. It kind of sounds dated. The chorus is annoying. There was a different song in the selection that I really liked (Anxiety by Felicia Lu) . That song would have probably brought germany a top 15 result. I was shocked when it got 4th because it was the favourite to win. The whole national final was a big mess (which is weird considering it's germany).

I think better German songs than this got zero points in the not too distant past. I don`t see this doing any better honestly.
