This was great to listen to!
I have done something like the 'Bustin' Doors' policy when I was working on UI design, but that also required me to ignore the fact I am mostly introverted and it takes a great amount of bravery and energy for me to start conversations with other people. However, it did get easier as time went on, and it certainly helped establishing myself as a known, reliable, helpful person in the team that people would seek out when they had issues.
Cars are a huge source of the "instead of trying to fix the problem have you thought about not having the problem".
From infrastructure costs, spacial costs, noise, time spent driving, human error driving, initial mental requirements to operate leading to dependence, proximity dangers, maintenance costs, initial costs, social degredation, ect.
Insane amounts of effort go into bandages without questioning the thing you are bandaging.
