What are your thoughts on drywall screws in Hardiebacker?
ОтветитьWhy use cement board that you have to waterproof verses Hardiebacker Board that is 100% waterproof and requires NO additional sealant?
ОтветитьHey Sal your ols schoollike me i even prefill big gaps in board for shrinkage before i tape. my question is now that i feel confident the durock edge guard bords up and has been taped and mudded with all set. My question is waterproofing my steam room. Every different provider like schluter kerdi redguard etc claims there product is the best chirps in. As a person who takes pride gets it all wouldnt it make sence if you like and respect durock to use them exclusive for membrane or shower and steam room application with the liquid crack isolation and waterproofing to finish the job for warranty purpose. it seems wrong to put another product on there board and ask for a refund if it fails. why use anyone else if your meat of the whole project is durock. would you feel confident if i went with durock products following instructions for my whole project? my floor heat i used ditra heat and wire can i finsh it of with durock any advice.
ОтветитьI do all the tile work at my home remodeling job and we use the same tile every job and I’m no professional but I learned a lot and I learned that I’ve been doing it wrong every time. I was taught completely differently and we never water proofed it at all like this. We just throw the backer board up and tile it. I’m thankful
ОтветитьHow does sheetrock (purple gold bond) with kerdi compare to durock or hardi board?
ОтветитьVery helpful. I’m a first timer-redoing our shower, and you answered my questions.
ОтветитьBoard goes on top of lip not the edge. Cement board wicks just like wallboard. Tile hangs over the rise on tub or pan and is solid as long as there is 80% adhesion of tile to waterproofing membrane. The space guarantees water will not wick. Silicone the bottom of tile and maintain for a guaranteed solid and mold proof system.
ОтветитьThank you Mr. DiBlasi for sharing your knowlwedge.
ОтветитьWider roller
ОтветитьCan you do a tool list and a material list for your videos?
ОтветитьAre any corner beads being used here, or is it just cement board with the fiberglas tape? Those outside corners on the edges and half wall look very sharp and precise.
ОтветитьWhere is your adhesive on the studs to glue the durock ?
Ответитьdid you use regular mud too fill in the spaces or thin set to fill in the space on the durock?
Ответитьwhy is there insulation on inside walls?
ОтветитьVery helpful!
ОтветитьWhy not waterproof the ceiling?
ОтветитьI have an issue with my thin set being real sandy and able to rub away if I rub at it aggressively. Also, it will turn back to dark brown if I spray water on it.. Do I need to knock it back off and so something different the next time?
ОтветитьI noticed you didn’t apply the waterproofing liquid over the durock that is on the ceiling. Why is that? I’m planning to tile the ceiling of my tub alcove, so i am especially curious.
ОтветитьI didn’t realise that the cement sheeting sits on top of the bath. I thought the sheet would run down behind it. Good to know.😊👍
ОтветитьAwesome work. Great information. Thanks for sharing your expertise!
ОтветитьYou could have explained more, of what you were doing !
ОтветитьSmart man; getting paid by the hour so using the 3” roller lol
ОтветитьVapor barrier? Not behind board? Coatings over impedes bonding especially mechanical bonding
ОтветитьWhy didn't you waterproof the ceiling ?
ОтветитьThe cement board is NOT supposed to sit directly on the tub. It could make squeaking noises with expansion and contraction!!!
ОтветитьCan you just paint the ceiling? I'm getting ready to redo my tub and shower. I'm tiling up the wall. Do I leave the current drywall in or durarock it and just thin set it and paint?
ОтветитьSal, why would you use Durock with kerdi board and laticrete having a similar one of their own? Is this a cost issue for the customer? Please advise. Thanks for all you do.
ОтветитьNo matter what anyone tells you cement absorbs water, all cement.
ОтветитьCan I score and cut 1/2” thick Durock?
ОтветитьI trust Sal more than most videos out there ! Guy is total professional and doesn’t cut any corners
ОтветитьThis video was one of the best out there, he is very good and thorough, thank you for your advise, now I’m ready to go !
ОтветитьDid you put the fiberglass fabric around the cut out for the shower valve?
ОтветитьOmg. This video was super helpful. I want to redo my tub area. I’m doing this alone. I appreciate you, your knowledge and this video. God Bless.
ОтветитьCan you use skim coat the cover the mesh or is there special plaster
ОтветитьDo you need a 1/4 or 1/8 inch gap at the bottom between meeting edge of tub and board?
ОтветитьYou dont have to do second or third coat if you put tar paper first then sheetrock then tiles, you are set to go, no need all of that waterproofing work, just staple the tar paper onto the 2x4 then put sheetrock, done.
ОтветитьI did my 40 year old shower a few years ago. I removed the 4x4 tiles and sheetrock behind it. It Never had loose tiles or water damage. The tiles were attached with mastic and held up all those years..how, I don't know. I was told the mastic served as the water proofing back then. Thank you so much teaching the proper way to do a shower.
ОтветитьSal how would you fix cement board to concrete blocks I'm in the UK any ideas ? Great video.
ОтветитьVery nice video. Thank you for showing us. Question - Can you use this liquid proofing membrane on Sheetrock to make it moisture resistant and mold resistant and then paint it?
ОтветитьHi, I have a few questions about my specific project. Wouldn't be more than 2 or 3 emails but I really want an experts opinion on a bathroom remodel. Everything is torn out already besides the old tile and subfloor.
I'd be more than willing to pay for your time to just send you some photos and to go back and forth through email or whatever works best for you because I really love your videos and always thought of you as being one of the best.
Let me know a way and a price.
Thanks,
My boss is the same way. He would also say it's easier to do a thing manually than to use a tool. In this case, a hole saw. While not wrong. It's definitely not " easier" . Also your work is really really good
ОтветитьGreat work. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
ОтветитьGreat video, thank you!!!
Did you put Durock on the ceiling too?
Sal, great video. What is the paper looking material you used while applying the waterproofing membrane?
ОтветитьThanks for the concise information and demonstration. No B.S., just professional techniques in easy to understand explanations.
ОтветитьDoes it matter what type of thinset u use, modified or unmodified?
ОтветитьCan you put Kerdi Waterproofing Membrane over durorock?
ОтветитьHI Sal, what type/brand of thinset do you recommend to cover the screw holes and gaps?
ОтветитьWhat’s the name of the green waterproof ?
ОтветитьThankyou it was very helpful
