How old was your ice maker before you started having trouble with it.? My wire come off at one end, but my daughter hooked it back up, it released what ice was in it,but it’s not making ice,,so I might have to buy a new one, or just go back to ice trays, thanks so much.also my outside central air died, no hope for it, just too expensive for senior,to make the repairs, I thought I was a gonna,it’s been so hot this year all around, I have several health issues. I had a couple of fans, I
Put one on my birds the other so it would blow air over my bed, it blew hot air, but it did save me.
I called my daughter, and she ask if I had a card for Home Depot I did so we went got a window, but
It’s not big enough, they didn’t have any other, so at least the birds and I have one room, a little cooler, when it rains it pours, we could use some real rain,Texas is just so dry and hot think it was 106 degrees yesterday, you have a wonderful day, I’m sorry, about rattling on. Thanks again for sharing with us, your really a great help. Even if I can’t do anything, I have an idea what it is 😊👍👍👍great job, 😊bet you have helped a lot of people.

Just replaced my entire unit. I was able to jump the T and H the unit fills and cycles. Issue is that the water just sits frozen and unit never cycles only when jumped. Not sure what to check next.

My 7 year old whirlpool started making ice very erratically. I found this video, figured out how to get all the plastic doors and drawers out of the way (hardest part of the whole project). Then, when I finally had easy access, it took only a few minutes to remove the unit. After taking that front piece off , I found no burnt electric connections. But, I did clean both sides of all connections with emery cloth, a sharp knife blade and finally some electronic components aerosol spray cleaner. I even found, under a plastic lever type thing, a set of points, similar to what you used to find in an auto distributor. I dug out my old ignition points file, which I have not had to use in at least 30 years, and ran it through all 4 points. But everything back together annd it is cranking out all sorts of ice, simply by cleaning the invisible corrosion off of the electric contacts

Do you have to turn off the water before removing the ice maker, or is the valve defaulted to off and outside of the ice maker? Edit: Answered my own question. No, you don't turn off the water, the valves are external and always off until the machine triggers them.

In my case though, I didn't even have to remove the ice maker (hindsight). My circuit board had dirty contacts. After removing the board, I cleaned the contacts with contact cleaner and a Q-Tip and put it back on, and the ice maker resumed normal function. My symptom was no ice. Motor worked, water valve worked. Thanks for the video.

Very good and I found it at just the right time. My ice maker which matches yours had failed. Using the bent wire to test it proved the same as yours and I've ordered a new one from the link you provided. One question, does the water at the source need to be shut off?

I found that the air coming to the ice maker was not cold enough. I turn off the entire refrigerator for 2 hours and there was frost built up in the tube going to the ice maker.

Great video! My inlet water was frozen. I thawed it and picked out the ice. Everything passes jumper test and seems to be working fine now. I suspect it was a water pressure issue though. It doesn't appear to be leaking. My well pump has been not keeping up lately when multiple things are running. So if some other things were running water, my icemaker might have only received trickles of water. The valve part # on my whirlpool from 2006 is 2304757. But looks like I don't need it now. I'll just let it run, and time will tell.

Yup, the heater contact arced on the replacment unit I bought a year ago. I unscrewed the cover and soldered over the burned connector. It worked for a day then I had to solder it again with an added copper strip. It's been about a week and so far so good. Thanks for posting this video.
