Pointing a camera in someone's face while making them a recipient of charity is a conscious and calculated decision.
Most people who donate to charitable causes do so because they believe in it, knowing they don't have to prove anything to anyone. It is this fact that is my biggest pet peeve with MrBeast. His videos are a way of expressing his innate desire to be viewed in a certain way. And his fans eat it up.
If it was truly just about being charitable for the purpose of doing something good, there would be no need for a camera. Why would you care whether or not other people or even your fans believe you? You're not doing it for them or for yourself.
But that is an incompatible idea with the MrBeast brand. If it can't be milked for online attention, it's not worth donating to in their eyes. Which is why it feels incredibly disingenuous.
