Thank you for making this so simple, plain, and straight-forward. What a blessings for one machine--so efficiently with dual-booting.
This is very similar to what an old programmer taught me to do with a start-up batch-file when the office I was working for went to "winderz" back in the early 1990s. I put this batch file on a 3.5 'stiffy' disk, and whenever I needed to (a) boot in DOS, and (b) run R:BASE from DOS--it was a breeze. 🛥

Window10 is preventing me to install Linux Mint20.3, and I'm unable to use the boot menu that is nowhere to be found, support from the seller is useless, Support from Dell is, great but still no boot menu,

What should I do if it does not detect windows 10 during the installing phase and just wants me to erase the disk.

Good job. Thanks for the slow pace. The only suggestions are, lose that distracting background music and it appeared that you had perfect zoom on the Rufus form when it was drifting across the screen but then pulled back to a difficult to view size.

Don't do this, you'll regret it when Windows updates and probably borks the Linux install.

I've downloaded this to use for dual-booting Linux Mint with Windblows 10. Windblows is required, otherwise I'd' ditch.

The only thing to make it better is to stop the video and in large letter write the link address in the window for a minute.

The very best tutorial for beginners, most other tutorials goes too fast and not details because they know how to use it and they flight by it. 👌

When I get to the "installation type" step it asks if "...I want to install alongside Windows 10-" I do want to install alongside Windows but my current OS is Windows 7. Would it be safe to go ahead and continue with that choice checked or will that make a difference? I've been searching forums and other YT vids for a long time and haven't found a definitive answer to this question yet. Would really appreciate some feedback!

I tried doing this on a devoted SSD (all others disconnected) and when I went to install I had to use "compatibility mode" to not get a glitched out screen and when I installed it and selected restart it said to remove the usb drive so I did and pressed enter and all I got was a message saying something about something failed ([0.350863] initramfs unpacking failed: Decoding failed)..... I'm in the process of re-trying the install again, same way...

Although I haven’t tried to follow through yet I found this video the most complete and well presented one on Linux to date! Thank you. As my old computer doesn’t seem to be able to boot from a USB I have installed some software on a CD that makes this possible (again, not yet tried). I suppose there is no way to modify the BIOS to enable a boot from USB that you know of?

Warning: When you shrink the Windows partition, there's a chance you may corrupt a system file and break Windows so that it no longer works right. The only sure way to set up a dual boot is to start with Windows install media and copies of all the windows drivers your computer needs. Reformat your primary SSD or hard drive and create a new Windows partition in only as much of the drive, leaving the space blank in which to install Linux. If you use the partition creation tool in the Windows install media, then it'll automatically make the separate small system partition. Re-install Windows and all of your Windows drivers for your computer.

Then you can install Linux separately in the free space you've created.
