Raji: An Ancient Epic Review (Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox, PC)

Thanks for clicking and checking out my review! A bit of an error on my part, the gameplay section was labeled visuals (editing at 3am lol). I went ahead and added chapters to the video though so hopefully that at least helps the confusion.

So when it comes to the game, if you are thinking about playing this game, just go the play Darksiders series, this game is just a cheap copy of that. They tried to do a history lesson and a hack and slash at the same time and neither of them are done very well, pretty much every gameplay mechanic in the game it's flawed to an egregious degree. The movement is terrible, the shadow puppet cup scenes were interesting at first, annoying after the 17th time, and the weapon system just feels hollow, the only interesting thing they did with the weapon system is the elemental stuff. You can get stunlocked very easily in this game, remember this is a hack and slash. When I got this game I was really interested in its story and it's world, the artists were very talented but no one else on the team was. And I know the team was only seven people but at the same time isn't team cherry only 13 people or so? And they made the masterpiece that was hollow Knight. And SPOILER FOR FINAL BOSS FIGHT. Okay I put the spoiler, we good? No pissed off people? Good. So at the end of the game you get a chakra weapon that is absolutely terrible to use, how you control it is your movement instead of it just attacking the closest thing to you, and considering the fact that the Dodge button shows style over function, it's pretty bad but you have to use it to fight the bullshit final boss. The dude spawns hands that you have to spam Dodge around the outside of the arena in order to dodge them, what makes it worse is that he spawns minions during this that may die in one hit but can still hit you, and if you want to try killing these minions before they can hit you then good luck with that because you're going to have to stop dodging, turn around, throw the disc, turn around, and then keep dodging. And it doesn't help that half the time whenever you throw the disc it doesn't even go where you want it to go or even worse it just fucks off, and what I mean by fucks off I mean it just straight up leaves the arena, like half of the time I'm using the thing I'm screaming WHERE ARE YOU GOING? Because it's just leaving and you can't damage the boss unless you use it so when the game literally leaves you defenseless because of how poorly the game is coded it is so frustrating. And remember that stun lock? Yeah if you get hit by those minions during the hand attack which you already have a 50% chance of getting hit by if the minions alone don't spawn, you are pretty much dead because all of the minions that are there will hit you and so will the hands, leaving you on one HP or damn near. All of this janky mechanic shit could have been fixed immensely just by letting you regain health from killing the minions. And regaining health off of enemies by executing them is already a core mechanic in the game because that's the only way for you to regain health. But no they thought that that was a bad idea, and they just didn't decide to play test the final fight. END OF SPOILER. Look if you are interested in the story of these gods and characters and such, then please just watch a documentary or something about it. And if you want this gameplay but way more refined and way more snappy and coherent, then go play Darksiders 2. This game was really intriguing but I wish it didn't flop on its face that every single possible point, and then they made a few more points and then flopped at them. What's my review? It is available on xbox gampass now...played it on xbox series x..and the graphics seems better than the one shown here..coming from a multiracial country like Malaysia..we have Indians here too and the story relates to us as we use to learn about hinduism. It's really cool to see they're using it and portraying it in this game

Good effort, but not good enough to create any ripples in the international arena. But hope they learn from this and make much better games in the future.

this game just isn't good, overpriced and way too short. Really bad combat and generic animations, Visuals are the only good thing about this, about the story I couldn't care since all those things came bugging me off first

first of all every game has bugs even minecraft and gta 5 but no one minds it but when it comes to india its a bad game give respect to india we did not do anything to you guys insteed first england attacked us and now when india realeased a game its bad for you guys it has super cool graphics and story about an india ok fine if you guys dont like indian game but everytime when you guys are in trouble india helps first but still u guys think us non gratuated why why only india is bad for world evry single country dont like indians why we are also humans but every single time when we try to proof ourself you guys just make us go down whyy jsut whyyy i am diappointed on every foriegner if you wanna support then support or just shut your self

Developers made this game out of their savings and it wasn't a very big staff to begin with. I never got bored, I enjoyed the game very much. The Visuals, Graphics were awesome. The only thing that lacked was "Saning System" xD Could've loved the option to save at certain points because to play a certain area, you have to play the whole game again.

They completed this game in 18 months....and almost got bankrupt during making this game

Indie game from India!

I respect your review, but the thing you missed out was that this is not a game backed by some gaming organization with huge budget. This is a project by some independent developers, one of which even had to sell his house to keep this project alive. New such unique games will only come if we support such development and to expect it to be way more polished would be an over kill.

Firstly its EPIC NOT MYTHOLOGY & second is Raji developers almost got bankrupt developing this game...Such a huge game coming from India for the start I appreciate it...In coming near future u will find many similar good games with good visuals as India is going to Animi hub along with IT hub and Manufacturing Hub.

This looks like a really cool game. It's a shame it's got some bugs. It reminds of Shadow of the Colossus meets Prince of Persia in a weird wide angle, top down view. I may try this anyway just for the fun of it. Excellent review as always. 👍👍
