ОтветитьId like to keep the hode on mine...
ОтветитьМного времени и сил а выход не большой.
Я б не занимался бы такой работой.
Well done and thank you for putting that together. About how many hours did you put in to complete that hide?
Ответитьwhat is a good alternative to bison tallow and maybe some other trees that have high tannins?
ОтветитьCan I skip the lime water step if i want to keep the fur on the pelt?
ОтветитьI just realized why my dogs used to eat my leather boots.
ОтветитьFantastic video! Thank you for sharing !
ОтветитьGreat video Clay and awesome looking hide! This year I tried my hand at fleshing a whitetail hide my buddy gave me. Cathartic experience and hard work, but worth every second. Still gotta finish the tanning. Gonna sand it down, brain tan and smoke the hide. Excited to see how it turns out!
ОтветитьI live in europe, not much hunting in the inner city, where do you get your natural acidity mix from?
Truly helped me to some basic survival skills. All the best brother.
If you want to keep the hair what would it be like? Amazing content wow
ОтветитьI’m processing 5 mangalitsa pigs in a little over a week.. Can this method apply to pig skin? I also have oak bark available for natural tanning. Is oak a good choice?
Ответить👏👏👏 Great!
ОтветитьI have a friend who insists, oak-tanned elk hide is the best and most versatile leather known to man.
ОтветитьHave u ever smoked a hide? If so what is the process for doing that?
ОтветитьThis is really well shot, no fuss and very informative. Much appreciated thank you.
ОтветитьAmazing
ОтветитьUncle, you are very good at it.
Ответитьdoes he see these boots that he makes? if so where can I buy them?
ОтветитьHow concentrated abouts was your lye solution?
ОтветитьNaturally 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
ОтветитьHumans I swear all leave every dermal layer on when making this sort of thing and it's such an improper practice that goes to show how you all as a species got no clue about the basic coordination of a most sure intellect. With full respect to the craft itself, there's a reason all of your leathers made from animal skins feel akin to the thickest toughest beef jerky you could ever buy.
You're wearing meat.
Where can i learn to tan leather. I am in UK
ОтветитьWhat wood can use?

ОтветитьПривет мужик тебя разговор нету класна
ОтветитьTakes me back! I've never tried bark tanning, but I've brained more hides than I care to think about! The one thing I'd suggest changing in your beam set up is to raise it up at the far end so it's more horizontal. You want a little angle for drainage, but not much. If you watch your body, you spend a ton of time bent over at the waist, and that's really bad for your back.... w/o any real return on the investment since your arms and shoulders are still doing all the work. The tradition of the short beam comes from a time when folks were either dirt poor or nomadic, and a shorter beam was easier to carry around, etc. Today, we can put our understanding of science to work for us, relieving a ton of ache in the back, by simply raising the beam up a foot or two and propping it against something solid.
ОтветитьHey Clay, what oil did you use towards the end of the video? Thanks.
ОтветитьCurious. How do you get even thicker leathers? Just specific animals with thicker hides? Mostly asking for 5-6mm.
ОтветитьGood work 👍
ОтветитьHow did anyone, in the past, figure all that out ? Incredible !

ОтветитьClay, I've found that if you take the bark off a tree in log form, the barks pieces will be pretty tiny and you won't have to chop the bark up. I put my deer sled under the log as I'm using my draw knife to debark the log and it catches the bark.
ОтветитьThree months!
Ответитьhow long the process
ОтветитьGreat work
ОтветитьTruly a teacher and a library of deep seed knowledge thru which humans have thrived thus far. Respect and love for you…
Ответить🤮
ОтветитьQuestion? I’m following your process. Have a deer hide and have been soaking it in the bark solution for about six weeks. Color is nice and dark on hair side of hide. There’s definitely areas where I damaged the grain, but I think it will survive. I f the grain is damaged, do you still follow the same process? Squeegee and rub oil into it as it dries?
ОтветитьPerfect
