Crazy, right now microcenter has i7-12700k with mobo and ram for 350 and has the i7-13700k with ram and mobo for 450.

In this testing, the 12700k was not boosted, not going for the 5ghz on pcores and 4ghz on e cores, I wonder what the difference would be if it was actually boosted

The power consumption for the 12700k is much better. Frames are not that far off, could possibly OC a little.

I like 12700 it seems less hot for just 5% less fps

Soon 14th gen comes out. Probably higher prices than 13th gen. i7 12th gen is still highly capable cpu and for the years to come. Also costs 100€ less than 13700k where I live. Absolutely a no-brainer!

good lord, while my tuf 3060ti is raging with 99% usage at 60c, this 4090 is just sleeping at 60% usage and 40c at most of the games

The 13 equivalents seem to be 12s with higher clock speeds and much greater power draw. The 12 series was innovative and a formitable response to Ryzen 5th gens. Intel''s 14 gen is what I'll have my eyes out for.

The big dog in the room is MSFS 2020 at 4K.

Whilst the fps in some games is 20fps more, in all games the power consumption is considerably higher and thus the heat generated and cooling needed. And besides, at those CPU bound settings the fps is so high anyway that it largely becomes diminishing returns.

12700K/F remains the absolute ideal sweet spot for power and efficiency for gaming/productivity.

While looking at the test I got an impression that the new one consumes around 25% more power to deliver around 10% more fps. Not very impressive.

In 5 years you'll need a 3k watt power supply and in 10 years your house will require a 240 power outlet to game with the newest GPUs/CPUs.

The 12th gen CPU’s are going to last for ages especially those with the added E Cores. I bought my son the i7-12700KF the week it came out and it’s an absolute beast!

Why it is so much different fps from 12700 and 13400 from another video. Especially in witcher 3, fps is 3-4 times different.

Oof...that is not a margin worth talking about wow....I overclocked my ram and I bet I have significantly closed the gap...and that much more power draw...I considered getting a 13700k as a replacedment into my DDR4 Mobo, but this says otherwise. Also not AVX-512 on the 13700K if I read correctly. I can acitvate it on the 12700K if I disable the E-Cores, which is very important to me for the boost on RPCS3 emulation.

On another note: It is actually insane to see 200+ FPS in Witcher 3. It already felt insanely good to run it on 100+ FPS on my 3080 12 GB, when I got it in August. But man...this is more than double as fast. The 4090 is a beast. But damn that price in Europe...in general, but especially in Europe. I was totally hurting spending 820€ on a Graphics card, but I will never spend 1000+€ on a GPU, even if that means that I will be using mid range in the future.

Who plays at 1080 with i7 12700k and 4090? I get why some people want to see which CPU performs better but this is just INSANE. Only 3440x1440p and 4K should be tested with that hardware.
