The fluctuation in voltage within tollance is very normal.

I have no idea what I'm talking about, so take this as blabbering on. But, I'm sure I have heard these types of generators are only good for "simple loads", because the electric output is "messy" you wouldn't want to power something like a computer with it, or similar devices.

The 2 stroke gasoline is pink because it is regular gas with purple looking oil mixed in.

The thing I'd be most concerned about with this thing is anything with a AC motor in it.

i.e. refrigerators, freezers, the fan on a furnace. The dirtiness, and variable frequency of the power is potentially a problem for an AC motor that depends on the AC power. Just the sort of things you'd want to power up during a power outage.

Between the Two Generator decibel test you did. I would say the Test would be even with each other. As both Generators came within a Certain decibel range and were not that far apart. While Yes the Cheapest Generator was a bit louder then the other, The Range would be considered acceptable If it was part of like a Official Testing

You didn't do the battery charging side. To see if you get a better positive result. I wouldn't mind to have something like that. To charge my batteries on my semi truck during wintertime.

I wonder what this guy is thinking. Because you can't expect the little 50cc rated for 600 watts of running power. 1,100 watt is peak power. You will never get peak power out of any generator. This guy needs to test it at its running watts. All he is doing is killing the gen head. Can't fix stupid.

That voltage droop under load is bad. Could cause brown out in a lot of controllers. There's no voltage regulation whatsoever. You get what you pay for.

It's fine for dumb electronics. A space heater or heat gun doesn't really need clean power. But I wouldn't even try to run a basic microwave on this thing.

When a generator says how many watts it does is it's peak watts but a generator never runs at peak watts for a long time. It's peak watts is the highest it's sapose to peak at for a second or two then it'll settle down to lower watts after spiking. You should never use a device that is rated above what the generator can handle

They work great for the price on coffee makers and small sub pumps when needed. Even a circular saw works on them. Left one out in the snow, rain, etc, for 3 years before it would no longer run.

Electricity or electrons actually moving past an element create a frequency. This frequency is what you see as power. So when a generator is way off the frequency of whatever the item is designed for you could really hurt any electronics or anything that has a motherboard with sensitive chips in it. Like a cell phone tower does no damage when you’re at the ground but when you’re standing in front of the antenna, your body is heating up. The electronics are exposed to extra electrons running through them and backing out at a more rapid pace. They will heat up the resistors and pretty much blow, any item that they passed through so yeah I would not use this for anything other than incandescent, lightbulbs or major power sources that just require electricity and give off light or heat. This would include LED lightbulbs because they are running based off of chips and embedded.

Wait, if they wrote that the tank was 1.1 gallons, but it took 110 ounces, then maybe they just assumed 100 ounces was a gallon.

Try the tractor supply small four stroke inverter generator.

At $80-$90 this is a decent generator. At $160 it is stupid. This is a $80 gen, not a $160 gen. Tractor Supply often has a 800/1000 watt INVERTER generator on sale for $160.

@djohnsto2
@djohnsto2 - 18.12.2023 21:59

The low & high voltage is due to the cheapness of the boost circuitry in the inverter. Expensive inverter generators have what you can think of as "gears" like in a car or bike. Cheap ones are like "direct drive" which are always a compromise at both the low and high end.
