Because I got out of the Box in the school I celebrated very fast as a youngster. I already knew 6 trades by the time I was 13 years old. I had a degree in amazing I did 10 years worth of schooling in one year. That's how fast I live. I would basically kick out of my classroom. I made it all the way to 8th grade and never spend A-day in a while. That's because I have called the SAT I've got a little special. I'm gonna load Indigo trailer.

This looks better than most of the more common public schools but my question is where is nature? Where is literature and poetry? Is there anything but technology, math and science? I loved the school outside Santa Rosa where each class was graded as a whole, not individual grades and they had a beautiful garden where they grew food and then learned to cook. Depending on technology should not be everything but hopefully combined into the creative, artistic side of being a full human.

When I first heard about Bitcoin, I thought it was impossible. How can you have a purely digital currency? Can’t I just copy your hard drive and have your bitcoins? I didn’t understand how that could be done, and then I looked into it and it was brilliant.”

Your supposed to strap the kid to a tiny desk, close off and seal up all the windows, remove anything that might stimulate them, then lecture. Just ask any teacher from the 70's 80's and on back.

I didn’t discover this until after I graduated college. I sat in a desk 20 years and learn multiple subjects and at the end, you don’t learn anything.

I wonder how teachers manage behavior issues? I can only imagine how spoiled rotting
these kids are!

Make education like a video game and addicting with dopamine hits, it's very simple. Though there is to much money and special intrest propping up dead and archive system.

Children need to learn how to think, not what to think. This is a grave issue in mainstream schooling nowadays. To develop agency is to learn how to reason and make informed, intentional and meaningful decisions for oneself. Educational innovation is the pathway to transforming schools. I appreciate Alt Schools ideas toward this transformation.

No mention of Montessori? 🤔 ... My dude the better battle-hardened system is already more than 100 years old, Bezos, both Google founders, your Bill Gates (the so-called Montessori-mafia), the english princes, Beyonce and Taylor swift all went to Montessori schools. It's also already worldwide right now with resources readily available and really popular in some non-oecd countries. No mention .. 🤔

Yo isn't this what everyone was supposed to be doing during the c-vid lockdown....even currently if you wouldn't care to send your children to be on any type of campus, just homeschool and using these presented structures , could improve edu...But still not sending 'em brother.

This is great. When I was a kid I was part of the GATE program, the school ended funding for the program. I was soon subject to adults who would dictate what I do and when I did it, I quickly lost interest. I sometimes wonder what I would be if I had spent those years expanding my knowledge instead of playing video games and sneaking beers. In short, the public education system failed me greatly. (oh and my state spends about 40k/student)

School should prepare kids for the REAL world.

Todays world is radically DIFFERENT from the world that was 200 years ago when this school INSANITY started.

Learning how to comment techniques created a generation of journos and politicians and we are at the brink of collapse for suffering them. Schools need to start actually teaching solid techniques. One school I went to counted I.T as a core GCSE I think in this day and age it should be as the set standard, especially with gigs economy accounting for most of the rungs on the ladder.

Look up the Reggio Emilia approach, it's an educational philosophy where students lead and teachers guide and encourage. Instead of homework, children work on projects and can choose what project they want to work on. There are no tests, no worksheets, no lesson plans. Instead there are centers for children to explore different materials (mainly natural or recycled) and ask questions and then the teacher builds on the student's curiosity.

Reggio education was developed after WW2 in a small town in Italy, so this concept has been around for a long time but many people don't know about it. I taught at a Reggio preschool for 4 years and the kids were happier, more confident, and more creative than kids who had to go to a traditional school where they have to sit in a boring class and memorize stuff they are forced to learn. The only issue is that the school I used to teach at is only for rich kids. It's a very expensive school with small class sizes. This type of school needs to be free for everyone.
