Ruinscape. If you believe in God, be aware: playing ruinscape will lure demonic entities to your life. If you don't believe, then hear this: The endless grind might make you crazy.

rs3 is over hated you can play it without abilitys and the graphics, skilling and bossing is so much better than osrs osrs is better in economy and pvp and community but rs3 just is more time friendly and enjoyable for casual players

Runescape was desgined to corrupt minds and ruin and destroy lives. This game was made and is kept by satanists and occultists. They have a satanic agenda to propagate satanism, occultism and paganism throughout the whole game. Also, they hook up kids on their 12s so they get inclined to worship the devil and seek the occult later in their lives, as part of their satanic agenda, to later ruin and disgrace those kids, teens and adult's lives. This is a serious alert, don't play Runescape or any of the other vesions available from this game. The whole company behind this game is satanist and wants the worst to everyone who plays their game.

Rs3 can only be enjoyed in ironman mode nowadays... if you play a main account its basically a casino, and you wont get to see any of the game at all, you will google the best money maker, get the best equipment and do nothing then

My OG runescape account I made back in 6th grade is about to get the 15 year cape. I spent so many long ass hours in F2P getting that account to 90 combat. Now its all for naught. You can just open your wallet to max your account and every skill can be trained at the bank. Its sad really... I'm glad they made Old School and I love playing it but I wish it never had to be that way

WoW and ESO are not that overwhelming. If you play through progression (getting levels, gear, etc) you'll learn everything else along the way.
People think it's overwhelming because they see the amount of things they need to learn all at once. Instead they should just take one step at a time, like anything else they learn in life.

⚠ This just proves that.. Jagex MODS are a bunch of developers... which aren't familiar with their own game.
Shame to say, not a single mods in Jagex was able to do basic testing from the inside?
And need players from the outside to conduct some testing?
This is how we know.. how disconnected the developers are to their OWN game...

On other words, can Elon Musk be unfamiliar with his own Tesla company?
Can Elon Musk be blur enough to ask, "What is Cybertruck? What can it do?"

Or, can Muck Zuckerberg ask, "What can I do in Facebook?"

Jagex recently has been busy and well known with their MTX move,
and this clearly proves that, as the company age... the JAGEX MODS & Developers working inside are more & more disconnected from their own end product (Which is the game itself - RS3) only focusing on juicing the players' $$$ (cha-ching!)
Thus, over the past few years... there were lots of bugs discovered and abused!
Reason behind is... "The developers are rushing and inexperienced in doing an actual good quality TESTING"

I Rest My Case, Thank You.
Have a good day.

There are tons of dailies like catches but over the time I've just learned not to care. Ik I miss tons of div xp by not doing them but why should I if I just don't feel like doing them? I have other goals and I can grind the div whenever I feel like it. Some weeks I miss the peng hunt, Idc. As an HCIM I do daily tasks and jack of all trades aura, check miscellania and that's it

I just tried to get into Runescape again and because of the "knowing" of what's to come grind wise, all the systems to learn etc it 100% puts me off. I miss playing when I was a kid and had no qualms with spending 3 hours mining and running back and forth to a bank just so I could craft X particular item, no care in the world and no comprehension of what "grinding" was. Just pure fun. I loved the idea of just exploring this huge world and having all these other real players around, even though I barely interacted or chatted. Now I just know many of them are soulless bots and that excitement of a "living world" has faded completly

Hostly overwhelming for people who never played an MMORPG game before. I am a WoW veteran so it came easy to me and I can just take my time and enjoy the game. I don't feel the need to rush to end the game to do end-game raids before the next expansion comes out. That feeling of, if I don't do it now I can't do it later because no one else is doing it, the old content. Runescape was the game a group of guys I knew played in 2005 before WoW. RS is the game I skipped over for WoW. I just downloaded the game two days ago on Steam 😅.

its not even from a "new" new player perspective, as someone who has put a huge amount of time into rs3 (relatively high skills, most combat skills 92+, done a huge number of quests), trying to get into harder content was super rough. You need so many different upgraded abilities that all come from separate (and long) grinds or you need a massive wallet to buy the codices on the GE. It felt like there were so many things to do that when I looked into a thing I wanted to get I'd end up researching for hours going down a rabbit hole of shit I didn't know existed. At the end of the day I'd rather just go play a different game.

I feel the main problem is that the gameplay is too linear; it all revolves around bossing. Best way to make money is bossing, best way of skilling is to buy materials so you need money (see point 1), majority of quests now are to unlock areas/abilities/gear for better bossinig. With the removal of PvP essentially, that problem has become even more apparent. The game caters to the endgame players too much, probably because they have a hard time keeping new players for the reasons you just explained. RS3 is starting to become a niche game imo because it's focused on PvM and when you compare this game's PvM to other games, it feels lackluster because of the tick system they use. A lot of people play because they've been playing forever but what happens when that generation doesn't log back in? There seems to be less of the younger generation picking up RS3 so it will slowly dwindle down. I'm not sure if the game will ever just die because it's linked to OSRS and that game has the player base to keep going (even tho RS3 probably makes more money because of MTX?).

I dunno, when I first played RS3 it seemed fun and adventurous like when I first played RS but now it just feels lame. I have a maxed account, a pretty high lvl Ironman and the last thing I want to do is grind out bosses for gear and move up the PvM ladder. I enjoy learning new bosses but the days of me just constantly clicking and fighting a boss for hours on end are over; just doesn't get me going anymore. It just feels like everything is the game is pushing you towards PvM and I don't want to PvM so I just never login.

Josh explains it very well and I agree with him. There are a ton of mmos I logged into for the first time, got hit with 30 notifications, 5 interfaces, and I try to look up some starter advice and there's a thousand people with conflicting opinions. OSRS does this right, there's a tutorial that explains things in a very easy to understand way, they tell you just about everything you need to know and the community is helpful with advice to guide you along the way. Nothing is too in your face and you feel like you can direct your pace however you desire. RS3 is overwhelming for me; someone that's played this game on and off for 15 years.

The combat system is easy while there's nuance in just about everything else and that's how I like it. That's the reason I find myself going back to things like League of Legends and OSRS. Which is something I've noticed with RS players is that they've also dabbled in League too so there's overlap.

I keep going back to try to play rs3 every year for a month. Every single year I return I feel like what I did last year meant absolutely nothing. Im an avid osrs player. Jagex fucked up by adding eoc to the game. Without OsRs there would be no Runescape. Simply look at the player numbers.

Big hurdle with mmos is making the game to easy where you feel little gratification and making it to hard where people just quit.

I find that a lot of quality of life tools actually lead to that overwhelming feeling. I just started Retail WoW for the first time about a year ago. I did my thing, levelled a character to max through a wonderful zone and then a not-so-woderful zone, and then afterwards the entire game seemed open to me - You can teleport anywhere in this enormous world, and there's so many things to do it really is overwhelming. I still really enjoy retail WoW, but I have to set specific goals for myself and the exploration is relegated to specific areas where my goals are.

I played Classic WoW before that when it came out. I was never overwhelmed. And I felt like that was because there were limited options to me because travel was so taxing. I was forced to explore almost everywhere and experience the world. Even at max level, if I wanted to go anywhere it might take me an hour to get there, so it had better be worth it.

This echoes in all of the Adventure Quest games and even to a greater degree. You can teleport to literally any screen in Adventure Quest Worlds and Dragon Fable by typing in the screen's ID. The entire game is open to you at all times and that is incredibly overwhelming.

I think that desire to be optimal is part of the problem. Once you accept you don't have to be optimal 100% of the time the game becomes so much easier. And over time you find yourself integrating all of those small optimizations little by little. The game needs a way to naturally get players into this mindset somehow.
