ОтветитьSim racing I feel like I'm flying a drone, in real life I feel like the car is an extension of me
ОтветитьRe the brake pedal @Driver61 what about the transducers/shakers you can get for the pedals? Would that not give you the feeling you’re missing? Hook them up through sim hub and you’d be able to get tyre scrub and all kinds of other things filtered through them.
ОтветитьForza horizon series is so close to real life (just kidding)
ОтветитьClickbait title thought there was going to be a compairison
ОтветитьI am locking up all the time in Assetto Corsa because of that lack of the feeling in the brake of my Logitech G923. By the way: is Logitech G923 with pedals and manual gearbox good setup for sim racing?
Ответитьtrue to most of what you said but if you have the money you can buy motion sim and get a module that hooks up to your brake pedal and if you adjust everything correctly you can make it feel just like your driving a real car in the sim
Ответитьthe setups ruin sims sort of... there's always that one 300 iq lunatic that figures out how to break the physics system with their insane setup and save 4 seconds
ОтветитьNot sure if did it already but I think this needs an update with the technology advancement
ОтветитьThis was cool. However I believe it should be updated sense this is 2022
ОтветитьI am willing to trade the loss of feel of real life G-Forces for the loss of real life dollars when I make a mistake.
ОтветитьThis is mind-blowing, honestly amazing what technology can do
ОтветитьBrilliant video, so well explained, execellent stuff. Cheers!
ОтветитьI've sim raced and actual raced on the same circuit. The big thing for me is with sim racing is there is no fear factor to overcome and that for me is a big part of racing, overcoming fear to do a better lap time. It does depend on the circuit but the one I'm thinking of has some serious high speed parts which are real life threats. So in that regard sim racing does not exist, there is no excitement born of overcoming fear.
ОтветитьYou should try AMS it’s supposed to be a very good sim, on my fanatec you can feel if you dip a wheel on the grass you can tell if your on turf or tarmac it feel just like driving on Astro when you get on the turf, my brake and gas have FF motors on them to communicate the car breaking traction, and I’m only decently fast when I’m stoned lol I’m shitte sober
ОтветитьHad my son in Iracing practice at age 11 through 13 every one on the track knew he was young and trying to learn. They would set up packs and run the track with him. It was amazing to see him 200+ MPH bumper to bumper. He learned to be very careful and did amazing. He tried gt tracks dirt gave him great confidence during drivers training all he had to focus on was the rules of the road. Now he is a cautious, considerate and safe driver. Proud of him he credits iracing for helping him get his driving confidence and thoughts of driving safely.
Ответитьwhat difference is racing sim to codemasters f1 games?
ОтветитьWhat's the best sim drifting game for PS4? I have GT Sport, but I think I might pick up assetto
ОтветитьIs project cars a better sim than Gran Turismo?
ОтветитьI’ll help beat a dead horse years after the videos been posted.... I’ve never been a “pro” real world driver. I’ve had my fair share of real track races however. My experience aside, just basing this assessment off of all of the driver 61 beginners guides and tip videos... it depends on the sim your racing on. Don’t have experience on iracing but spend all my time on GT Sport, it you drive how you should in a real car you’ll never come close to competing at the top in gts.... if you watching the top racers and their qualifying laps or how they handle the cars in general... comparing to driver61’s videos on how to drive.... he would be pulling his hair out or giving the complete and opposite opinion on sim racing. Gt sport top flight drivers drive the cars in a way it might not even get them a real full lap accomplished on a real track. Their inputs are snappy, they are unrealistically sliding the cars in, through and out of the corner. There’s nothing smooth about most their drives. They would make a set of tires last a lap let alone 10-20 depending on compounds or tracks. Mainly, the guys properly driving a car on track that more than likely would make better professional real world drivers on a platform like gts are overshadowed with gt sports physics allowing others to drive the cars unrealistically allowing them to get shots at real drives.
ОтветитьWhat about f1 real life to f1 codemasters game?Do you think they are smilar speed?
ОтветитьThis video needs more comparative footage and less talk.
ОтветитьIt's an artists impression of real life very close .
ОтветитьDamn cant tell whats real nd whats sim
ОтветитьYou can also know that the car is oversteering just by feeling the car through the controller's vibration
ОтветитьIn my basic knowledge on this I would assume being able to learn the track like that is most beneficial
ОтветитьWhat about rallying?
ОтветитьOverall sim racing can get you somewhere in real life
ОтветитьI disagree about laser scanned tracks being perfectly true to life. First of all, laser scanning isn't as precise as everyone thinks at this scale, it's only accurate to a millimeter when scanning something like an action figure or something, at this scale you're lucky to be within a few inches. Furthermore, the most important feature of a real track is the surface and a laser scanner will not pick that up no matter what they claim. I also find that the same track in different sims will have minor differences and all vary from the real track in spite of all claiming to be laser scanned, which is further proof it's not as flawless as people think. Long story short, never assume you can perfectly translate how you drive a lap in a sim to real life input for input or say hi to the wall.
ОтветитьI'll say sim racing is realistic with the right gear and right sim the only thing it isn't the feeling of the car from the whole body
Ответитьhi Scot great series you've got going here. Can you elaborate more about which sim you use for which purpose. In this video you say you use I-racing, Project Cars and sometimes rFactor depending on what you want to train. Although i use all the sims you mention i would like to know which sim one could use best for what purpose. ( when you say rFactor i asume you mean rFactor2)
ОтветитьSim racing is a great thing!!😆
ОтветитьBrilliantly done as ever! Thanks a lot Sir!
Ответитьyou can feel the back rotating in iracing? i must have a different version then :D
ОтветитьAnyone wanna make ffb pedals?
ОтветитьIt seems I have learned a lot about how cars handle spending a lot of time on Forza, despite the fact I am literally 2 months away from testing for my permit
I do wish I had a force feedback wheel with pedals, but I have gotten good with the controller
Thought the left was the game
Ответитьok but where is that pro racer?? watched whole video but i dont see him
Ответитьthis is how people should review racing sims
ОтветитьSim racing is great. However the moment you enter a formula car some really impressive elements enter into play.
The incredible noise of the engine that you are wearing like a backpack.
The vibrations, strong enough you feel like being given a massage
The wind during the straight line that force your head to move left right
The 80 kg force on the brake pedal at the end of the straight line if you want proper braking
The heat in the cockpit, unbelievable in the summer
The g forces during cornering, very physical and without power steering
The unbelievable acceleration, stronger than any gt
The reality that a mistake will cost material or else
The incredible assault of the real car does have an impact on the driving and needs some getting use. For sure sim racing is good preparation but the real car is a different world.
I always get shit for talking about the benefits of sim racing lol.
ОтветитьI think also tyre management is something that can't be learned in sim and then translated to real life, and tyres are probably the biggest part of real racing.
ОтветитьI been racing on sims even before i get my car, I trust on my vision and my driving skills, I avoid three possible big accidents while i was fast on the highway, I was pretty surprise how it feels in real life, im so glad i been able to learn everything on this channel, and, every time i re watch your videos i still learning more and more, i started with Iracing three months ago and it feels so great, im looking to change my g29 for a better setup
ОтветитьGFX are better on the sim ; )
ОтветитьI have been simracing for 10 years now, and improved so much of my personal skills. Especially those where I have to connect the tasks together. Its a great development tool,
ОтветитьI don't care with what anyone says but with me Personally if I cannot feel the role of the car under me I can't do shit one the main things I go off of in real life is the role under me in the feeling of the car and the G force that's how I get through the corners and maximize the limits. If I can't feel that I literally just cannot do it on I racing I'm absolutely trashed and put me on a real life track and I kick your ass it's weird but I don't know what the problem is but I just cannot translate real life into a video game unless it's 1 of those seats that freakin throw you all over the place it's not happening
ОтветитьLooks like we’re getting more real life racers in iRacing too which is great to see. Really looking forward future improvements in the sims.
ОтветитьThis blew my mind.
