My 5 year old grandson is named River. When he visits , it takes him about 5 seconds to start beating me with his rough housing. He may be the most dangerous River in the world.

I thought the westerners have some sort of agreement to send their/our trash to Indonesia to get “sorted “ I don’t think all that waste is only from the surrounding cities.

I know it's not mentioned, but growing up near the Potomac, we have our own modern version of folklore to never go in the Potomac or else you'd die due to the strong waters and how big the river can actually get (at its widest, it is 19x wider than the Misississippi is at its widest)

The people of Indonesia should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. How bad do things have to get before someone takes action. What a scummy place to live.

Yes Indonesia likes to boast about it's tourist spots, but very little attention to it's wildlife, but that is what happens when your government is corrupt from it's president down to the bottom rung, and I speak from experience living there.

The river Wharfe. The part he was on about is called "the strid" 1000ft deep in places and 6ft wide. You go in, nobody and i mean nobody comes out alive. You fall in there you are dead. Google the strid!
I live here. The wharfe is the faStest rising and falling river in the UK. It's also beautiful.

Statistically the Strid on the River Wharfe is the deadliest stretch of water in the world. Nobody who has fallen in it has ever survived. It’s been measured via sonar at about 50m deep, and nobody really knows the full extent or profile below the surface. Because it’s so deep, the water is aerated, so there is no buoyancy and you can’t even stay on the surface if you tried. If you think about it, the whole river is turned on it’s side as it passes through it, and the turns back horizontal once it’s through. When you stand by it, it looks so benign, and it’s only about 6 feet wide at it’s narrowest point. A lot of people think they can jump it, but it’s really slippery and the rocks are at funny angles, which leads to people’s downfall. It’s an utterly beautiful spot though. I’ve been there many times.

What's Krazy is the Mississippi river is literally a 5min walking distance from our hometown and while knowing now how dangerous it is, the dangers never occurred to us then because we used to actually get knee deep in.. yeah really stupid i know. Then when it get high, it literally be right at the tip top..one strong wind gust would push some over the levee

I grew up near the red river and spent a lot of time around it. My brother nearly drowned in it once when he was wading he hit a drop off and was caught by an underwater current. Luckily he had a life jacket on and I kayaked him back to shore but still really scary. I grew up hearing stories of people who drowned in the river.

Hey hey hang on folks, the Mississippi River is technically its most wide (11 miles) at a LAKE basin that the river runs through. The widest point of its navigable shipping channel is only TWO MILES, which is still impressive. But, don't be thinking of a strip of river that is 11 miles wide, that portion is actually a lake.

Aa a young Airman stationed at Castle AFB in the early 80's we often were warned about the dangers of the Kern. Signs in the Yosemite park read "IF YOU FALL IN THE RIVER>>>YOU WILL DIE!" And they are correct. We saw people jumping rocks and ignoring the signs all the time.
