You can serve Hermaeus Mora. (especially if you have the Winter Sun mod) but he will betray you once you have outlived your usefulness.

Just a thought - as I am not really knowledgeable of ES lore - but what if the Dwemer came to some unholy arrangement with HM in their lust for knowledge?
The Epistolary Acumen is locked up and heavily protected in Nchardak. (At least it seems that way. The quest is a PITA, but I hate Dwemer ruins).
The Dwemer have an advanced knowledge of technology in comparison to the rest of Tamriel - maybe based on knowledge from the future? Could Hermaes Mora have given them that? Then disposed of them in some great malevolent plan, as yes, he has a nasty habit of disposing of his follwers once he is done with them...
I don't see him as a gifter of knowledge. He take great pleasure in telling me I am his puppet and i hate him. I hate him because of how much I need him. I feel tricked into being his servant and he takes great malevolent delight in my stupidity. He loves making the very wise and very clever very stupid, taking advantage of their thirst for knowledge.
It is a bonkers idea but I just wonder if the Dwemer were tricked into an arrangement they found abhorent and paid the ultimate price?

Mora definitely gets a +1 respect for outright warning you that his realm is dangerous and you should leave by reading the Black Book again if you're not up to it.

My favorite Daedric Princes are
1- Sheogorath (Great)
2- Hircine (The hunting grounds seem really good if you’re a werewolf)
3- Hermaeus Mora (A lot of knowledge but good chance of insanity and could easily die by them)
4- Malacath (Seems to actually care for his followers)
5- Meridia (One of the few Daedra not completely evil)

I would love to serve mora, knowledge is the only true admirable pursuit.

Based off eso he’s apparently a good ruler to if the ciphers are anything to go by. Given power, relitivly left to their own devices, given jobs and purpose and all the books they want. Only downside being it’s relatively unsafe outside of their compounds, can have incursions from other deadra or dreamkin and the bargain must always be payed in full by both parties wich can be more fucky then one would first think.

The thing is except for fargrave those downsides are stock standard and apocrapher is definitely the best of the lot so that’s another boon to mora.

As long as you don’t anger him, try to break a bargain or mess with his deadra your relitivly safe and secure

For roleplay purposes, my DB is leeching knowledge from Hermaeus Mora. They have too strong a will to be the puppet of a daedric prince, but using said prince to gain forgotten and powerful knowledge is perfect for them. "I won't serve you, but I will take you for everything you've got. When I am done, I will be one step closer to being omniscient."

Thing is, while being a servant of Hermaeus Mora would suck, it’s still on the upper quarter of the Princes.

Ironically he seems actually reasonable. Serve him and collect knowledge and you get cool Eldritch powers. I’d choose him over Molag Bal anyway.
