Two established bands that are really supergroups: 1) Megadeth, with the additions of Kiko and Dirk, who are among the best in the world at performing AND writing metal (and some non-metal genres), and 2) Testament with the additions of Gene Hoglan and Steve DiGiorgio.

I don't believe a supergroup has to be an entirely separate project, it can just be the coming together of some of the best performing and writing musicians in their genre, or out of their genre, and forming a band, even if the band goes by the name of an already-established band.

Don’t really know many metal supergroups, I probably listen to them I’m just unaware of who the band members are... I do like ‘Soen’, pretty sure that is a supergroup.

Hi, I've been a metal fan for 35 years, I admire Sun Dunn's work since the first film. I would like to make a suggestion, I think the heavy metal family tree is a very interesting thing. You can think of creating an application with it. When viewing Lock Horns, for example, it is difficult to remember subgenres, so with the app it would be easier to follow the show and we suggest some changes and new bands or charts. I miss personally a CLASSIC HEAVY METAL root, with Judas Priest, Dio, Accept, Manowar, i think they don´t belong in the POWER METAL´s root. And an APP could be a font os funds for the channel, even with a low price value. Up the irons. Keep on Rocking

It’s a hard rock/AOR band, but made up of members of Soilwork, Arch Enemy, etc. Maybe not 100% metal, but definitely going for a unique and different sound than the heavier bands the members are from.

Avantasia is a side project by the genius that is Tobias Sammet. It’s a side project because he writes all of the songs. Not to say others don’t contribute ideas, but it’s not really built around equal members coming together to write the music. Either way, Avantasia is awesome.

Also, that first Dream Evil album is great power metal imo. It even has a song called Heavy Metal Jesus 😄🤘

S.O.D. and Dead Cross are examples of supergroups who actually made good music. Also, would anyone consider the current line-up of Testament a supergroup?

Vltimas is just showing how important David Vincent is a frontman who beats down all the critics & haters to shut up.
His apperance in Morbid A, Vltimas, Terrorizer (he should have done vox instead of Garcia on the debut)

The apperance 'factor' (The dynamic on stage) is very important : Tom Araya demands a crowd thats loud & ready from the start. Have twice been waiting 5+ minuts before he was satisfied. Also I have heard Lombardo making a huge error live in '88 playing "Chemical Warfare" in Copenhagen.. A little extra : Saw Newsted playing his 1st concert w. Metallica, after Burton's death in Sweden on their way to Denmark. He died under their Tour bus & had to take a half year break, before continue w. Newsted on the Masters Tour!!
