- Oath of devotion makes you unable to lie, but that doesn't mean you HAVE to talk, you can just say nothing. Oath of vengeance does allow you to keep your sworn enemies alive if you need it. You don't have to kill them, just get rid of them.
- Aura of protection gives you and your allies an insane bonus to saving throws, so you'll still be keeping your concentration, not an issue
- You can still use Divine Smite on Tiamat and other creatures with spell immunity, since it's not a spell, which is usually the thing you'll use on your opponents anyway so almost nothing changed. You can still use bless and other support on your allies.
- Aura of protection gives you and your allies an insane bonus to saving throws. You're definitely not losing concentration.
- Is frightened immunity supposed to be specific? The aforementioned Tiamat, which is, oh such a common final boss, can frighten people. All dragons also do this.
- Oath spells mitigate your more limited spells
- You can't use divine sense while having negative charisma? Okay. And why does your paladin have negative charisma?
I'm up for bashing my favorite class but come on you can do better
"Paladins are the runt of the classes"... What? They are strongest melee class hands down, only somewhat rivaled by GWM+Polearm Master fighters (Xbow expert, sharpshooter, elven accuracy fighers beat all melee fighters in damage btw) but the burst damage from Divine Smite and the spellcasting utility they provide make them the vastly superior option in basically any game. They are the only class other than the Cleric to get heavy armor and healing, and they don't even need to spend spell slots to do it, Lay on Hands is more efficient healing than any Cleric could dream of. Their level 6 feature Aura of Protection is possibly the strongest single defensive class feature in all of 5e, with a decent Charisma you can be adding +3 or +4 to all your saves which is basically like taking the Resilient Feat 4 times, but also getting to stack it with your normal saving throw proficiencies, and then there's the fact that its a shared ability with your other party members (or mounts and other pets) within 10ft. Divine smite is also a powerhouse ability that grants options to using spell slots for a melee class without sacrificing attacks in the action economy, a solution to a problem that rangers, arcane tricksters, and eldritch knights all sadly suffer from. Paladin is one of the strongest classes hands down and the best class for a melee character. I wish it wasn't the case, I want barbarians and fighters to fit that role but they sadly just cant compete with how stacked the pally abilities are, especially Aura of Protection since barbs and fighters are the first characters in most parties to fail debilitating saves and get knocked out of fights. If only Indomitable was actually legendary resistance and all barbarians were strong against fear/charm while raging (not just berserker, the subclass that kills you to use its main feature).
ОтветитьEven if the divine sense thing was true...why would you have a low charisma as a...charisma caster?
ОтветитьIdk we are playing The Witchlight campaign now and I am the oath of ancients paladin and it is really fun. In is not too much fights in this campaign but when some shadow comes guess who is there to save the day. I mean maybe it is not my number 1 class but I guess it could be quite fun. I am also a pink tieflinng and my paladin has very much sailor moon vibes 😅
ОтветитьWhat do you mean by I can use my smite slots for spells?
Ответитьits always funny to see how different the perspective of people for classes is. paladin IMO is top 5 best classes.
ОтветитьDo you only play in combat?
ОтветитьOaths are great for rp, fight my LE Paladin with an oath of devotion!
ОтветитьPaladins are great at 2 things, which are kinda big when you look at the 3 pillars of dnd exploration, talky talky, and combat. You guess which two?
ОтветитьHUH YOU WERE SAYING SOMETHING !?
I COULDN’T HEAR YOU OVER THE SOUND OF MY SMITES !
Paladins are based. If you know, you know
ОтветитьThey're not particularly good at ranged combat.
ОтветитьSOUNDS LIKE SOMEONE IS DUE FOR SOME CRUSADIN'!
ОтветитьDivine smite is not a spell therefore you can smite the shit out of that dragon fiend
ОтветитьI don't need anything else... D-d-d-d-divine s-sm-sm-smite... Is all i need... Hahaha... HAHAHAHAHA
ОтветитьOh no! That monster is immune against 6 or lower level spells! All those tons of paladin attack spells that I definitely have won't work on it! What a massive loss!
/s
Pally are amongst the strongest in 5e.
Common.

ОтветитьBro why Paladin’s are awesome
ОтветитьLets be honest, the only ability paladins ever need is divine smite, everything else is just icing on the cake.
ОтветитьThis video by far is the most cap it’s supposed to point out the flaws of the character but Paladin has some of the best features and is one of the best classes so clearly you didn’t read the PHB.
ОтветитьYou should have made this video like the cleric one cause Paladin is way too broken. S+ in everything!
ОтветитьSounds like this guy wants to play the oath of woke paladin. We all know what the tenants are, and the whole oath-breaking mechanic actually plays out in real life... Canceled.
ОтветитьSo is there no actual good reason to play a paladin? Shit then barbarian it is /:
ОтветитьYou literally took every oath and made it the Oath of Stupidity. Redemption paladins allowing murderous monsters to have multiple rounds of lethals attacks on innocent victims while trying to use diplomacy is not the path of Redemption—it is carelessly allowing preventable harm at best, and actively defending the monsters at worst. If this situation actually comes up at your table, it's not because paladin oaths are bad but because the DM has failed to build a consistent expectation of the setting to the players. If the players are expecting a grimdark campaign where their god of holy justice demands they murder goblin babies, then they either won't play this type of character or you can yoink their class features for breaking their oath. Talk to the player about the story they want to create and work with them, so that the character and setting feel good together. It's a co-op game, after all.
ОтветитьRuining how armor works and taking a sledgehammer to mounted combat without building anything out of the pieces kinda ruined the paladin. Their entire schtick is eventually getting to be a mounted armored battle tank that can annihilate a balor on a single charge.
ОтветитьBRUH dnd one made this video more correct than before XD
ОтветитьI've never actually wanted to play a paladin before, then I realized, while most paladins wear heavy armor they don't HAVE to, so, I built a roguish paladin that I have plans for, also, a bard-ancient paladin is actually really cool on paper
ОтветитьI think pallys only have two real weaknesses, stealth and range, other than that they are pretty good
ОтветитьEh just cast buff spells. Works for me. Also you control your paladin you can kinda control the oath that they swore so just change the oath tenants
ОтветитьPaladins are the best class they deal a ton of damage
ОтветитьPaladins immunity to fear is good.
The feature that sucks is 5e DMs underusing fear effects.
is the series continuing?
Ответить-Lay on hands is the most versatile heal in the game
-Divine sense is great if you’re looking for basically anything
-The spells are mainly support, not damage
-Smites are great
-AC and HP are great
-Fighting style was completely ignored
-You don’t really need to focus Con like the video showed
-The channel divinities are mainly great
-The auras are HUGE
-Frightened can be absolutely crippling
-Wdym “your DM isn’t experienced enough to run enemy spellcasters” but then they are experienced enough to run Tiamat????
-Smites hit Tiamat
-Not reaching the powerful level-20 abilities is by no means paladin-exclusive
To hell with you, brother, paladin all the way!
ОтветитьMy paladin could transform into a berserker when he lost faith, and I could basically go back and forth, soooo yeah it was fun to play
Édit: and yeah so I could go around those stupid tenets and it was justified since I had 2 personalities technically
Has anyone been a sadistic lad and revived and healed a bandit until you broke them just to get another party member (meatshield?)
ОтветитьI’m not overly familiar w this channel, so if this is a joke that I’m not understanding, whatever.
Divine smite is a decent ability, and while it’s true that people use it too liberally, it’s still a decent feature for burst damage
The presence of not impressive abilities doesn’t take away from powerful abilities. Lay On Hands should be used out of combat, for the exact reason said in the video, not every ability is best used in combat. Immunity to disease isn’t huge but ribbon features are cute.
What are they on about not being able to cast spells effectively? Bless, find steed, aid, lesser restoration, shield of faith and divine favor are all good to great Paladin spells that don’t even require charisma to cast
On the topic of concentration, what do you mean you won’t be able to concentrate on spells effectively?? A Paladin will have at least 14 con and aura of protection adds their cha mod to their con saves, that’s going to mean at least +4-5 con saves w/o any special investment into concentration. Aura of protection is among the best class features in the game, and aura of courage is fantastic as frighten is an incredibly common and debilitating condition to be subjected too. Immunity to it is amazing.
On the topic of limited magic immunity, what’s your point? That not good for anyone, and as people have said, you don’t have to (and frankly should never) cast spells against enemies as a Paladin
And finally on the topic of powerful high level features usually not be obtained in a typical campaign, that’s the same for a lot of classes, and the fact that the majority of Paladin power comes in between levels 2-7
This just seems like a really misinformed opinion meant as engagement bait, which I do see the irony in making this my point at the end of my long post, but it’s just blatantly not true. Paladins and Rangers are the best martials in the game, no question about it
Okay, but hear me out. Player's Hanbook Thunderous Smite.
ОтветитьMy DM homebrew lay on hands to be a bonus action
And the aura he makes it better
Please, please mock the warlock class
ОтветитьBread boys!
ОтветитьJokes on you.
That’s every reason why someone would want to play a Paladin.
Paladins are the best!
Wanna sling spells AND swing swords?
Paladin.
Wanna do massive damage?
Paladin.
Wanna heal and shield your friends?
Paladin.
Wanna be a party face and negotiate with nobles and merchants?
Paladin.
Wanna have flavorful and compelling motivations?
Paladin.
In short, paladin may not be the very best at any one thing, but they are the best at doing ALL the things!
let me say one thing divine smite
ОтветитьDidn't you literally say paladins are broken in another of your videos......
ОтветитьI am generally new to DnD and the first official character I made was a paladin becuase they needed someone who can do melee damage and I didn’t want to be a barbarian and I think they already had a rouge or something. Despite this video being a joke, I can already see the similarities and am now worried about how my character will play out.
