What's new in Kontrol S-Series MK3 | Native Instruments

I’m considering getting one. Do you need to install the plugins into the keyboard via a laptop or how do you get the plugins in it?

Does it work with ipad by using the apple Camera adapter? I am blind thats why i am asking .

Nooooooooo. It has no inbuilt speakers, such a shame for those who want to extend studio use to on the road, standalone use, home jams, student rehearsals. Seriously in this price range if you were to add speakers and pianos you would eclipse and eradicate the Roland, Yamaha, Kawai and market and triple your revenue.

And yet after all these years, NI never released support for MK3 to control Kontakt, making useless to use in any DAW besides their awful Machine DAW.
That's why I will never buy anymore any NI hardware.

WARNING ⚠️ Native instruments have gone down a dark path! Same as Apple and Kenton UK. These companies have as a policy to not support older products and totaly ignore customers with these products. The customer service simply does not exist. It is like ”oh you got an 3 year old product, sorry we did enjoy your money back then but now you need to pay us more because we are stinking capitalist swine”. I say boycot! I bought NI kontakt 7.4.2 only to find out This version does not work in macOS catalina, the later sound/sample packs refuse to load even if kontakt is version 7.4.2 in macOS Catalina, and there does not seem to be a work arround for this. It also seems as if many people have similar experiences with Native Instruments! Softaware AND even hardwear that does not work under different circumstances, often compability issues and a lack of support for older or the latest OS (actually problems of support for both windows and macOS). I was thinking about buying NI kontroll s49 mk3 but given that NI is a buisness that has problems programming software that supports old macOS I think i might just boycot NI in the future, i mean why should i buy a new computer with new OS just to get a midi controller to work and then also be forced to buy a new UA appolo audiointerface since the retards at Apple decided to switch their ”Thunderbolt” to USB C format? Thats like buying a new car because i want to upgrade my tiers…. NI should take a few hundred classes in both computer programming and in how to conduct their buisness, look at Steinberg their equivalent product HALion 7 works perfectly no matter what OS your computer might have … No more NI products ever !!!

i really like my MK2 but ever since the upgrade to USB-C my keyboard kept glitching whenever i switched to the fitting cable because the MK2 was not designed to work with USB-C so my plug-in setting on the keyboard would just turn off, and the recording and playback buttons don't work either, the keyboard itself works fine but it's not able to live to it's full potential anymore and function properly because of that transition, so that's the really big reason i want the MK3, i'm lookin to get the S-49, but JEEZ that's a big price!

I just bought a MK3 s49 last night specifically to use the aftertouch capabilities together with my Maschine and I'm extremely disappointed to find it out that there is no Maschine Integration. The DAW controls don't even work. This is a major mistake and I hope you guys prioritize and fix this in an upcoming update or tbh I may have to take it back. And for the record I love your products. I've been a Maschine user ever since MK1 to the MK3. We are committed to your products and you guys should be too.

The cost of these are ridiculous. For the cost of the 88 keys they should've included Komplete ultimate with it.

You should release a standalone version of this keyboard to compete with stage pianos. With build in sounds, speakers, monitor and headphones out. Because all stage pianos don't have MIDI out. Plus a version with black all black keys would look super sick!
It also wouldn't hurt to include faders and pads.

Nice keyboard, I know it's aimed at the NI virtual tools, but I have a rack full of old hardware synths, how would it be for that?

A lot of angry existing customers here I see. Well, I for one am excited about this controller. As someone who is just beginning to enter the NI ecosystem, this is a no brainer buy for me. Not yet, as the Collectors Edition kinda hurt my bank, I'll definitely be picking this up in the next few months. I will say though, even as a new user; I am a TINY bit disappointed there's no faders or touch screen. But, it's actually a minor gripe for me. But I can definitely understand why existing Mk2 owners are upset. But as you've said, this is aimed at new customers such as myself so... It makes sense. I think it'd be a great idea to add another product line though so these existing Mk2 owners can get what they've been asking for.

Definitely needs a touch screen by now....? There are a lot of features i do like! But.... Some Pads and Faders would have been nice..

All the buttons and functions on mk2 needs to be on the new keyboards too everything on it

Why in the world y'all not take all the functionality from the komplete kontrol and buttons and put it on the new keyboard I use the maschine so basically it's useless on the new keyboard how could y'all not add all those features with it until y'all figure that out I will stick to my komplete kontrol s49 and my maschine mk3 😢

Just need to wait another 5 years and MK4 for faders? 5‘09‘‘ exactly shows how lifeless orchestral libraries sound when you can‘t control expression, volume and modulation with faders. And no, you can’t do this simultaneously with round encoders. That is why I have an additional controller sitting on top of my Mk2. And probably this is the reason why they continue to leave all this estate empty! And Maschine control gone? Paying more for less! Moreover: it is beyond me why Native Access updated my Kontakt libraries to be compatible with Kontakt7 and MK3, giving me eror messages now as I am running MK2 and Kontakt 6. Support tells me I should upgrade to Kontakt 7 - a paid upgrade. Soon they will also tell me I need to upgrade to MK3…Obviously venture capital owned NI took all of this from the playbook: „How to alienate longterm customers by making them pay more for less“.

Is that just a midi controller for kontakt running on pc or are the plugins installed in that controller?

Really digging the new design. Personally happy there's no faders or pads that I'll never use. But please make Play Assist work outside of NI software. Feels weird to have a $1k controller that doesn't have an arpeggiator.

What a faff...it's about sound..not graphics... everything is intuitive..once you learn it...hands up and a shout out to left hand bass accordion players!

what if I have my own Plug-ins and hows it work with FL Studio? I have not jumped into one yet so far controls consist of a Akai Fire and my keyboard is an old Yamaha 500 with a floppy drive..! need an update!!
