Love this
ОтветитьThank you for your intelligent and informative videos. Best wishes in your adventures, life is shor...
ОтветитьVery helpful video. Thanks!
ОтветитьDID YOU SAY FELLING? not falling?
Ответитьknocked out my first three boards today using this setup, thanks for the inspo
Ответить"I never had an original thought in my life" 🤣 Subscribed right there and I dont even own a chainsaw.
ОтветитьThe price of the chainsaw that you need for chainsaw mill, you can buy a 22-26" wood mill for same price. I guess if you are extremely remote. Better cuts, less waste
ОтветитьNever had an original thought I know how that feels lol. At least your experience is unique to you. Stay warm great vid
Ответитьaluminum thicker wall tubing would work
Ответитьplease throw the ryobi away :)
ОтветитьI dig it… I’ve always wanted to experiment… I can surely make better and straighter shit than the 3rds you pay an arm and a leg for the orange Depot box store. Their wood can’t be first and I can’t stand to pay Triple the price now.. pure shit.
ОтветитьI have a really large granberg mill, 62” bar, I do from time to time make large “billet” cuts and then move them to the bandsaw mill. Cutting beams I will cut 18” full depth of my mill attachment.
ОтветитьI seen a guy that built the hot tub the fire is underneath the tub. He’s in California and he just puts the firewood under there and it heats the water up in the tub so you can make your hot tub like that. Also, I’ve seen some people use the ladder like you’re doing that milling they put a ladder on top of the log, and then run the chainsaw across the ladder.
Ответитьthanx
ОтветитьReally depends what kind of wood you have on your land, if it’s oak for example it will be much much harder to mill than cedar “, etc
ОтветитьWow, very informative. I have a log that I want to mill and didn't know how I would start the first cut. I've never milled before so I was scratching my head. I too have 95% cedar on my 10 acre property here in Texas. I want to cut out some beams for decorative purposes for a cabin I'm building. I like your setup and appreciate your tips. Thanks!
ОтветитьThis video worked for me because it covered most general questions I had. I can figure out the details, or have my own way of doing things based on what I have at hand etc. I prefer quick overview, with any big gotchyas pointed out.
I’ve been eyeing one of these setups for a while, and had always thought I would fabricate it, but have had good success with the stihl saw, so why not use the mill. Thanks for the vid, it gave me enough info., to make a board.
way too much yap!
ОтветитьThank you!
Gray coverage!
Soak your chains in diesel... not alchol
ОтветитьWhere can I buy this setup?
ОтветитьThanks for your work on this vid. Great info. I liked and subscribed.
ОтветитьGreat communicator!
ОтветитьWen you cut the lumber for how long you let drye ?
ОтветитьThe first sharpener looks like a Chicago, sold by Harbor Freight.
ОтветитьThanks. Very sane setup
ОтветитьNah, don't buy lumber. Buy expensive chainsaws, bars, and chains instead plus gas, oil, files ....🤣🤣
ОтветитьI saw a guy on another video who use a counter weight on a rope rather than a winch to help pull the saw through the log and he lays it out with a slight downward slope.
ОтветитьLooks like a really enjoyable process.
ОтветитьHarbor Freight Sawmill
ОтветитьThe chain saw turns almost 9/16" per cut into saw dust. Band saws give you 2 extra boards per log since the blade is so thin.
ОтветитьI don't know if i've ever seen a 3 1/2" Phillips screw here in canada lol awesome video btw i love chainsaw milling too:) the fumes not so much
ОтветитьYou might think of building a hoist for logs that you can tow around with your ATV.
ОтветитьThanks YT, for suggesting a video about a guy thanking you for suggesting a video...but seriously thanks for the video, I have logs and this looks perfect.
ОтветитьI see you are using work gloves similar to the ones I use to use. I burn through gloves about ever 2 or three months so I've started using the $2.00 gloves from Tractor Supply or Harbor Freight and not waste 20 to 30 dollars on work gloves that wear out quickly. The gloves I'm referring to are the rubber ones with the breathable backs for sweat. FYI
ОтветитьMake sure you set aside a ton of money for chainsaws because these Alaskan mills destroy chainsaws...
Ответитьi thought i was missing peices that sled looks awesome i always just had lumpy first cuts
ОтветитьLol,only if you got land with lumber, lol and remember sooner or later ya wont have any left, lol
Ответитьteak isn't particularly hard, but it is notorious for dulling cutting tools because it has hard stuff in it- it is full of silica
ОтветитьImpressive simplicity of less is way more!
ОтветитьFirst timer. Subbed and 👍
ОтветитьAre t you suppose to dry the wood out?
ОтветитьIf u have to use that to pull the saw your rakers are to long the saw does the work when sharpened right
ОтветитьI've just found your channel & wow, thanks.
This is a great instructional video, many thanks.
All talk and no demonstration.
ОтветитьHow can one afford to live like you do??? Where are how do you get money
Ответить...This is the 1st video of yours that ive come across, and it couldnt have been a more perfect subject! I needed to be introduced to this simple way of milling my own lumber, this is amazing. Many project ideas have been hindered due to the high cost of materials, and now I can mill them myself, thank you so so much for sharing your knowledge.
