But I, and I am sure MANY people have been waiting for a direct, "Through the Lenses comparison between the Quest 3, and the Pico 4 PCVR.
Seeing as they are the 2 most "head to head" selling headsets ATM.
As the Quest 2 is years old, and the Pro is too expensive, still. and the Reverb is dicontiunued. Wish you would do a Quest 3 vs Pico 4 PCVR review. It would get a LOT of clicks.

Flawed comparison since the Oculus software isn't updated for the Quest 3 in terms of max render resolution. Where the Q2 and Q Pro can have the render resolution in the software maxed out to actually yield full panel resolution (after accounting for barrel distortion), the Q3 via link/air link is not able to take advantage in the same way and is effectively set at the same resolution as those other two, which is like 20-25% less than it could/should be. It's a big difference, as I can confirm by using my Q3 with Virtual Desktop at godlike and air link at the resolution as will be shown in this video.

You'd have to use Virtual Desktop for a true comparison or wait until the link software is updated.

Big fan of your through the lens videos but you missed on this one because of what i said above.

I upgraded from the Oculus rift CV1 to the quest 3. On day one I repackaged the rift into its box for the rest of its life.. so for sale I guess lol.

Very informative thanks! It does seem like the pro is not that bad at all.
But I hear bad reports of how you need a RTX4080 or 4090 to play games on the Quest HMDs.
Of course not so much the native VR games. But everything else.

For those that are curious, Quest 3's clarity comes close to HP Reverb G2, but not quite. Still a larger sweet spot though, which is nice.

I have all 3, definitely I would pick Quest 3 for PCVR, better resolution and FOV plus performance at decoding frames, the local dimming not worth it

I own all 3 - Quest Pro is by far the best with the QLED panels and overall build quality.

Meta must have paid so there would be no comparison between pico4 and q3 for a while

Got the Q3 and ye it's fucking great, you have to know how to configure your shit correctly and get 4k+ encoding running smoothly but it's juice, alas mine has a badly assembled right lens stack which shows with 2 bright dots/scratches that only appear on bright backgrounds and the vignetting is much worse on it than the barely noticeable left - so it's off to RMA. Here's hoping unit #2 is solid (my RNG is trash though).

Why does the Q3 look so much more washed out in ASSETTO CORSA than either the Q2 or QP? Did you use different LCD or graphic settings?

What is the name of this F1 racing game? I haven‘t seen it yet in the store. And I am desperately looking for a good racing game on Q3.

quest 3 image looks a bit more clear than it does on the pro, which is awkward when you realize the price difference of the two..

hi Ty, have a Q2 and the Q2 quality in AC footage shows much worse then what I see in AC in the Q2... (but I have it at 72hz and on highest possible render resolution )

What render resolution did you set the Q2 ? And which one is the Q3 set to ? (does it also allow to bump up the resolution from the default one?)
I'm guessing you left both on default (but what is the default resolution setting for the Q3 ? )

It would be great to see the Q2 max resolution setting, compared to the Q3 (also on max resolution setting)... and knowing Meta they kept it kinda low for the Q3 since the battery dies already quickly and it might overheat...

Why does the Quest 2 look like it has darker blacks? I find that kind of odd.

I will consider upgrading to the Quest 3 when the games start flooding in.

Keeping my quest 2 for now . I havent had chance to use for PCVR yet as thats my next expense , upgrade my PC to one that can hanlde it lol . I use rift s for PCVR atm but want wireless 😊

I was surprised about the difference between the q2 and q3 screens because I've noticed minimal difference when upgrading.

I still got my Oculus Quest 1 and I wish they would have continued using OLED displays for perfect blacks.
Especially in dark (horror) games the immersion there is so much better when you dont have that "gray fog" before you. My brain can always tell this way: "Ah, there is a display in front of your eyes - chill".

I think that Quest will be bestseller 2023-2024-2025)

Who else would buy Meta Quest 3 with an OLED screen and pancake lenses? Maybe Quest 4 or Quest Pro 2. We are so close from stepping out of early adopters phase of VR.

Not sure why in this video the colours are better on quest 2 than quest 3,i have both headsets and the quest 3 colours are better especially if you adjust the screen brightness

There is a difference but it not at big as I thought it would be. I can remember Oculus 1 and Vive compared to Quest 2 and that was pretty big difference.

quest 2 contrast looks incredible here better than the pro version. Q3 looks like ass in every way....I don't get it. In other comparison videos, Q3 usually comes on top.
