I think this is over exaggerated I was in Belarus a month ago, they have always been surprised by tourists, the first time I was there in 2018 they were also surprised a foreigner was visiting, the police control at the border has always been suspicious of foreigners even the first time I entered and left (Both times through land). The supermarkets were normally packed as in 2018 and nothing was missing. Belarus has always been safe its not that it has become safe. I really got irritated with all the bs in this video I honestly didn't finish it. Belarus of course has its problems mainly political and there is a suppressed lower class but there is a deeper reasoning to that

Belarus certainly has its share of issues but this video also has its share of hyperbole. To say Belarus is closed off from Europe—fully inaccurate. Also, it is not like North Korea and it's fairly easy to travel there which there reporters even clearly did posing as tourists, which means tourists are welcome. Go around Minsk and you'll find as many charming cafés and bars as Zagreb or Warsaw with high-quality cuisine as well. Belarusian youth are not in some basement hiding out but openly listening to their own pop music like Tima Belorusskih. It's also funny to see French journalists upset about police presence after this past (2023) summer in France. Again, Belarus has problems and I do not myself support the war in Ukraine at all, but there's a lot of bias in this documentary for the apparent sake of suspense and getting views.
