HERE’S WHAT THEY DO NOT WANT TO TELL YOU UPFRONT.
You can still have hair after your treatments are done (including in coarse areas). It REDUCES hair, it doesn’t necessarily REMOVE hair permanently.
More hair can grow in when you have hormonal changes (pregnancy, menopause). The best results may not last long.
Your salesperson can tell you whatever they want, like you’ll be “hair free”, “no hair”, “guarantee” and the company doesn’t reprimand them for doing this. As long as you sign the contract which says basically “we don’t know what results you’ll get, if any”, they don’t have to help you if the treatments don’t work. This means that the sales people can deceive people by giving them unrealistic expectations, they don’t mention the possibility of treatments not working, and then they and the company profit when you sign the contract.
The lighter and finer your hair is, the less likely it is to be treatable.
You have to carefully avoid the sun.
It’s expensive.
It’s painful.
The remaining hair can appear patchy. Coarse hair can still be over an inch long.
They may want to take pictures of the treatment areas. See if it is stated in your contract and consider if you are comfortable with that or if you want to take your own pictures privately so you can document progress objectively.
In rare cases, the laser can cause skin burns or hair growth to worsen.
In the majority of cases, you think your hair looks much worse than other people do. These companies use that to their advantage.

Tips if after being informed you would like treatments:
Get a nurse to look at the areas you want treated in person BEFORE YOU SIGN ANYTHING. An Ideal Image nurse told me that women’s arm hair usually isn’t treatable (yet they are more than willing to keep selling women that area and others like it without a nurse even verifying if they’re treatable). Document which areas they tell you are treatable, and ask them to add specifics to your contract to guarantee that you get the results you find reasonable in those areas. If they don’t want to, ask yourself “Why?”. If their treatments were effective, they shouldn’t be concerned about them being unsuccessful. You have the power UNTIL you sign a contract. They want your money. Don’t let them rush you into signing anything.
Don’t treat every area you want done all at once. Get one or two of the areas you want treated most done first. If you start not seeing much improvement partway through treatments, you can ask them to shift the contract funds to other areas (if the new area is more expensive, you’ll have to pay for the difference).
A contract may state that you can get treatments every 6-10 weeks. If you are able, always schedule appointments as close together as your contract allows until the last couple of treatments. You’ll end up getting more treatments out of the deal.
They offer a Lifetime Guarantee for $250. If you want more treatments, in addition you have to pay a copay for each treatment area. Ask the salesperson to quote the copay for EVERY treatment area so you know how much you’d be paying. Additional treatments aren’t cheap if you’re doing multiple areas, just like the full contract isn’t cheap.
You’ll have to fight them tooth and nail for a refund even if you didn’t do a single treatment. If you did any treatments, they very likely won’t refund you. If you dispute, they may offer you 1-2 additional treatments for free.
They offer sales near holidays. They are also slower during Summer months because people don’t want to avoid the sun.

This video isn't accurate. All that hair on the surface of the skin absorbs the laser instead of going to the root where it does its job of killing the hair. You MUST shave close before doing laser or IPL.
