My great uncle (married to my maternal grandmother's sister) served in the infantry in Europe. He never talked about it much, except when he had been drinking.

Still feels like a Hollywood take on “real war” it’s okay but a little like a a darker gritty version of the old 50s war movies. It’s framed more like propaganda but in a bad light. I think it would have been better with more realistic dialogue. It’s a little to character driven.

Soldier standing on top of the tank scrubbing his crusty undercarriage, those are the details that make this real, it’s not like hot showers were an option! Funny scene but accurate.

My dad was 2nd Armored Div. Hell on Wheels.. every fighting unit is a beast but I never never new the true grit of these men.
