There's no way to be a good writer. Some people can write well; some people suck. That's all there is to it.

Thank you. I don't think I was one of the people asking for this and I'm not trying to get into writing stuff, but even ignoring the tips- seeing the progression laid out really makes it feel possible to improve. My favorite quote would be "I don't know what that is supposed mean."

Watching the Texhnolyze part of this video makes me seriously question my analytical abilities. I suffer from not fully explaining my reasons for not liking a certain movie or show or video game thanks to my ADHD, and it gets really grating at times when I can't find anything to say. I can say that I hate Man of Steel for turning one of my favorite superheroes into Batman (i.e., a boring, brooding psychopath who is incapable of expressing any emotion that isn't either angst or rage or determination), but beyond that I'm mainly just angry at it because it's such a boring grit-fest with little to no levity to itself.

I love watching your analyses, for all the effort and skill you put into expressing your feelings about a particular series or film. I hope to be as good as you are someday.

That comment on Nanoha's voice is one of the best things I've ever heard. When I heard that she was voiced by Yukari Tamura, I physically recoiled from realizing that one of my favorite voice actresses was in that disaster.

I'm really impressed with how you've not only developed but that you can identify your own development. That's a huge benefit in a lot of ways. Self awareness... Self criticism... Self acceptance... it's really great stuff. Digi person, you're a really great benefit to the English Anime community.

I really respect the position of keeping your old work up online as an example of progress for others to follow. Coming from the world of internet artists, looking back on old and overworked doodles is something that makes me cringe, but I keep my stuff up anyways. Actually kind of seems cowardly and egotistical when big name artists delete their past work.

I've always wanted to be a writer since a young age, and i am starting to throw my hat into the Anime analysis "ring" after watching lots of your content (as well as a few others). So this video is actually going to be helpful to me, just as your last "write gooder" video as well as the rest of your writing. Thanks Digi

For me, as a writer, my biggest issue is simply taking a concept and going lengths with it. I think I actually am solid when it comes to coming up with ideas for novels, but my biggest issue comes with what I do with them. I've had this idea for a fantasy novel for the past few years in my head, but I just don't know what to do with it because I'm not sure what would work and what about it would be sloppy. Because of that I don't really write too much, but I do have the want to do it. I'm just not very good at it.

I have been trying to break into interesting analysis like you for some time, but I can't help but feel like
I'm hindered by just not knowing enough. Even though I started 4 years later than you (I'm 19) , it seems like you have always come from an angle of comparing shows to each other and what makes a certain show special in the broader context. While I can do this to some extent, I'm still so early on in my anime career (<50 seen), that many shows I see are the first of their kind, which makes it hard for me to tell what's unique about a show vs a genre staple. You know, maybe I should just start deep diving into my favorite stuff, like Anno or comedy shows and I'll have stuff that's more interesting to say. I think my writing clarity is fine, but I need a sharper Gonzo angle. You may not even be able to understand my perspective since you've been immersed in anime for a LONG time, but if you do read this let me know if you have any suggestions. Been blogging for a few months now but I'm unsure if I've said much that's interesting.

I'm not interested in becoming a writer much, but as someone who is overly critical of everyone else's "professional" writing pieces (that I've had to deal with in college), I somehow watched this entire video. Of course I had music in the background. Dark psytrance, and then some lo-fi chillhop (Jinsang, The Deli, etc). Got some work done as the same time. I call this a very good use of my time.

The realization that my writing is in fact better than your earliest work does make me feel a little better, but I'm also about the age you were when this video came out and I am not at that level so it's also not the fairest of comparisons. It's easy to feel like I've waited too long to start making my writings more public, but at the same time I also know that the sooner I do it the better. It's a real conflict within me.
