Azazel Immortal Empires Campaign Review

For anyone wanting a very early one man army, it is possible to save scum for the Blade of Slaanesh. Although it obviously isnt't necessery, it is definately a lot of fun to control in battles. I think I obtained the Blade at turn 25, but you could probably get it even earlier.

Bizarrely enough, i get a lot of my campaign strats based on what I see the Ai doing. In the first IE build, he would completely ignore the tower of crack, and walk all the way around the back to the settlement (which I seem to always take, and relocate Daniel to) below clan Ferrik.
Slaanesh is my top race, but whilst with Sigvald i had 20k vassal income by mid to late game, I couldnt get easily get vassals using the domination mechanic. Using the technique of walking around the back, and declaring war on thrott immediately, i did manage to dominate the kislevites but it wasn't worth the hassle.

Must say I gotta disagree on the Chosen Hellscourges though. The weekend before they got their buff, I literally spent 4-6 hours in custom battle testing them against different techniques, and pre-buff I thought they were about on par with normal slaanesh chosen. Now I think they are a bit OP.
Whilst the mono-god is more aligned to stacking buffs and debuffs, the WOC slaanesy are more aligned to hammer and anvil via devastating flanker.

Those hellscourges will keep their line insanely well, and then you create weakspots in their line either using the rampage mechanic spells in the slaaneshy tree, or straight up whip the line down the middle and charge all your cav through. But either way, with the buffed Hellscourges, they beat Khorne chosen 1v1 when they have the anti infantry tech.

You can still add in the debuff stacks with daemonettes etc, but the lords (especially azazel) have their own AOE debuffs to create a weakness in the line as well.
Having said though, most of those techniques are at their strongest in multiplayer, since you can roll your face on the keyboard against the ai when you have chosen.
Seriously though, relocate both Boris, Malus, Daniel to the settlement below Ferrik from turn 1 and the campaign is a dream by comparison. You actually get to use Boris's confederation events.

Anyone else miss the "See you later fuckers"?

the recruitment system for warriors of chaos sucks they would be wiped out easily if it wernt for your vassals who recruit armies way faster keeping your enemies busy

Started an Azazel campaing yesterday. Rushed crazy Rasputin, befriended Throt, have vasalized Throgg, and mostly secure all Norsca.

Once you star pacifying Norsca the campaign deflates a bit though. A bit of end-turn-simulation... Im hyped for what comes next though (idk if I want to go north or south).

I also have gotten the best RNG in a video game, ever. Like its turn 20 and I already have Slaneesh Sword, Armour of Destiny, Talisman of Preservation, Chalice of Chaos, and the Book of Ashur. Lol !

Blows me away how far in the wrong direction they took this game. So arcade-like its unplayable for me. Ill stick to Divide et Impera for RTW2

CA need to completely change confederations because confederations have always been for the LL and the territory they have less so than what the LL can do for you as a whole.

Why should you lose the benefits that a LL gives towards your campaign?

Why can’t the LL you confed still give faction wide bonuses to specific units?

It’s so dumb. Considering how big this game is going to be in 2-3 years it makes sense to do it now.

And now that confeds are not easy to get for a lot of the characters in the game it would make them much more worth doing.

Dwarves probably are one of the best races in the game for boosting specific units as LL but you don’t get the benefit when you confed that LL.

Such a waste really. I would love to make balanced armies for all my armies if I have confederated all the LL in that race and then go stomping but I can’t.

Never been more disappointed than when I played Archeon campaign and confederated Azazel with all his unique weapons, waited four turns to get him and he felt weaker than generic lords. All chaos legendary lords were way more fun to play. I think playing him might be better

Dude, I also mentioned this in you Sigvald review... but Siggy has and undivided tech tree. It took me less than 2 min to confirm this in game. Being able to recruit nurgle lords and heroes makes a huge difference for the WoC. Common legend we expect better from you.

One thing i wish you explored more is Azazel's (faction) ability to actually more or less join the ordertidem, due to his faction global bonuses. It's sure as hell easier to fight early game kislev and empire, but it makes for an interesting campaign to try to ally with kislev and empire. It can be done, but rather tough

You can reload the turn to reroll the reward from eye of the gods. Guarantee you get the blade first time.

I feel like all the Warriors of Chaos are so strong as to be very boring. The vassal spam is too strong.

My only issue with WoC Slaanesh is that Slaanesh is the only chaos faction that I like the demon infantry over the mortal ones.

One thing you missed about the mark of Slaanesh, it gives cavalry and chariots devastating flanker.

Also Azazel's unique tech tree gets halescourge units bonus Vs infantry.

Azazel is confusing to me, because he seems quite strong but he always gets bodied and relegated to one settlement in my campaigns

Are the normal Marauders of Slaanesh the best or is the Hellscourges variant better?

Also can't wait for a Aranessa Saltspite review. I find her to be in a weird spot, not in terms of location but in terms of gameplay where she should have more Sartosa related infantry versus undead units. I'm not sure if she is an overall good LL or not.

I know that legend and some people don’t like mods but the recruiting deafeted legendary lords mod is pretty good(don’t know if it works but still…)

You're mistaken, Legend. Sigvald does not have a Slaanesh focused tech tree.

God I remember seeing the stat bonuses on the blade of Slaanesh when I first got it in my first Azazel campaign and having to do a triple take. It’s insane how good it is.

Azazel also has the best RoC campaign imo, tho that's not a very typical map that gets played

I Like Slaneesh mark, it's the best. i like mechanics. But i hate the look of slaneesh's army and i hate a purpule corruption...

Those global bonuses for dedication are pretty great in the early game tho as souls are trickier I'd say to hold onto in the early game. If you have one or two gifts going at once your stock goes down quite quick if you aren't razing everything you run into

If you want to make azazel a one man doomstack you should bring a second lord to kill the homeless man in erengrad otherwise you get flaming attack, also sidenote to the blade of slansh, you have to have at least one character aside from azazel active on the map in order to have a chance of getting the blade

I am pretty sure i've seen the blade of slaneesh in at least one of my games even tho I havent played directly as Azazel yet. I think it was daniel but now I wanna go check my saves lol, I remember it was pretty good and I think I ended up giving it to sigvald since I was trying to get khaine, but that ending up being glitched or unclaimable for some reason

Too bad that Azazel and Sigvald don't count as Slaanesi factions, stripping them of many benefits from tech and gifts of Slaanesh

I recently completed Azazel on the RoC campaign and chosen with hellscourges do not die, combine them with spawn of slaanesh, fiends and exalted daemonettes you've got all the killing power, mobility and staying power you could ever need

About the blade of Slaanesh. Can you just reloaed every time you get the first Dilemma until it appears? I mean like in the Realm of Slaanesh.

Edit: To answer my own question, yes it is possible. 4 reloads to get the Blade of Slaanesh at the first Dilemma.
