I love NIK for many things, their presets are amazing and their B&W pligin is amazing, but I really think their selection masks are slow, cumbersome and very far for what you can accomplish in Photoshop much quicker and precise with the new masking tools. They seem to get lagging behind every day more. The control points is very outdated technology. They really need to work on this if they want to remain competitive nowadays. I have been able to upgrade from 5 to 6 now in Black Friday but I will not and wait if in NC 7.0 they will improve the Control point feaute beyond the gradients feature. Their bad policy regarding upgrades makes me not want to upgrade. They might put out a new version on January and you are out of luck and have to pay again a few months later. I will wait and see their next full version. 6 already is at the end of the road. I have been burned before from 4 to 5.

Hi Robin, very interesting. I am working on V6 but only Nik 6 HDR Efex is available. No merge option? Is this a Mac only option?

I agree with you that non-AI tools are still relevant. Topaz Sharpen AI and Photo AI can do some amazing things, but I still often find that they don't get it right on parts of an image. The Nik Sharpener produces excellent results and does everything I need in most cases. I think it is better than the limited built-in sharpening tools in most RAW developers.

Hi Robin,
I've been using Nik Collection software as a plugin for Adobe Photoshop from its infancy on a Windows based PC and it's one of my all time favourite editing tools.
However, A few days ago I made the transition on to a MAC based system using the M2 MAC Studio.
When I try to install Nik Collection 6 it only does a partial install. Here's what loads;

HDR Efex Pro 2
Nik 6 Perspective
Sharpener Pro 3 RAW Presharpener
Sharpener Pro 3 Output Sharpener

When I try to open any of the above items I just get an error message.
I'm wondering if you've come across this before and if you have, is there a way I can install the full Nik Collection 6 and get back to using the wonderful software?
Any help or suggestions you can pass on would be gratefully appreciated.

Best,

Hudson
