While it is true about acidified foods having the ability to leach chemicals from metals and plastics, it is not true that kombucha must be consumed from a bottle. That is the way we thought about kombucha 10-15 years ago but the category has evolved. Can suppliers thoroughly test any products with the can liners before they will sell to a company, and any canned kombucha company also thoroughly tests their products against liners to ensure there is zero leaching. Many soft drinks have higher total acidity than kombucha and cans also hold Apple Cider Vinegar beverages as well, such as Poppi. Bottles use cap closures which are often not routinely tested for corrosion against kombucha as they are often manufactured for beer. Cans are not only better for the environment, they also greatly help with preserving kombucha. Please choose a brand that scientifically controls the ethanol in their products as no one should be drinking kombucha higher than 0.5% ABV which is the legal limit and alcohol is detrimental to health. Finally, you mention a short ingredient stack and while I normally would agree here, Rowdy Mermaid has several flavors filled with fermented botanicals, herbs, and roots.
