I had 2 tegus a black and white and a red and idk how people can’t take care of them there easy but I sold them because I wasn’t do mentally well at the time they didn’t cost me and arm or a leg to feed or house so how are people releasing them in the wild I had mine going working part time 25-30 hrs a week making 8.75 with a drinking problem

The argentine tegu isnt the most dangerous animal in florida, coming from a guy who lives in an entirely different state with an entirely seperate type of tegu.

LOVE THIS! I have a 10 month old Blue Tegu named Killian and it has been a blast having him around. They are so intelligent, I've target trained mine for feeding and we've finally mastered his litter box training. Eats like a monster but is such a sweetheart and curious little guy <3

Totally true about the bite force of these guys...when he was young (about 4 months old) we did have an incident where he got my thumb and shook his body. I almost needed stitches...and he was still a baby! The strength of these animals is astounding and demands respect.

He has never been aggressive towards humans or tried to bite anyone since. We immediately jumped into training to tame his food aggression because I knew as he grew that behavior was unacceptable. I couldn't believe how fast he picked up target training (He has a bright orange target that is ONLY shown to him for feeding and is completed hidden from him during any other time, it's very strict, but it's taught him when to expect food and reversed that behavior.

As an argentinean, i must say that i love this lizard, he belongs to my country, here is called "Lagarto Overo", is famous to eat eggs among anything else he cant find, is super fast, super agressive and allways hungry, but is a factastic creature.
It is very sad for me.. that tons of animals like this one or others from different countries are trafficked in the black market of animals for some (hdspm) with very little gray matter in another part of the world can presume about having a rare animal that dosen't belong there...
Makes me feel very angry and powerless, the suffering of these animals when they are being stolen from their natural habitat and selled to the highest bidder.
Please, be smart, be kind, respect all natural wildlife, they dont deserve to be a pet in your house, they deserve to be happy on the wild, FREE.
If you ever want to feel/touch/admire an animal that is not from your country or is it, just travel and see it with your own eyes, grab it genttly and let him go.

I live, hunt and fish is South & Southwest Florida and invasive species like these have decimated the small mamel populations. I almost never see raccoons, foxes, rabbits and squirrel in Big Cypress National Preserve South of I-75. North there are a few rabbit, the occasional Coyote and opossum but nothing even close to what we saw in the 80's & 90's. It's just sad to think what it will he like 10 years from now.

Hi Coyote I have heled a Black and White Tegu before and it was nearly the same size like the one that you chatted. And it was a very friendly one too (the one that I heled) and I agree with you they are very beautiful Lizards a friend of mine had all kinds of Reptiles like Green Iguanas, Asian Water Monitors, Snakes like Burmese Pythons (a female) and Boas and Royal Pythons and Snapping Turtles + Birds of Prey and Fish (fresh water or Sea water types) and he had it all and I love going round he's house getting to hold them I love my Reptiles a lot it's amazing to see them all the time.

It's not that they're a bad pet I've heard that they're actually pretty good and docile lizards to have The problem is people that don't have any place in the reptile world decide to go out and get one as a pet and they have no business having one as a pet cuz they're not ready for the challenge.

Ответить
@danieldowney2678

I'm sure they can be great pets, the problem is they are not pets they are wild and are killing and eating native species and it's awful, just like the boa's in Fla. they devour native species to the point where there's nothing left in the everglades they ate everything!
