The obsession with “full frame” cameras is mostly a beginner/amateur thing. I don’t know any professionals who spend sleepless nights over “cropped” sensors.

Honestly rolling shutter may be a much bigger problem than low light performance. Ive got a FX30 and neither is a deal breaker for my usage scenarios. At the price point it is all in all unbeatable and have zero competition if your in the market for a good easy to use easy to rig general purpose camera for content production.

I picked one up as a B Camera for my A7Siii but I've decided to return it. It's a solid camera and I might've purchased it instead of the A7siii just for the cost savings. But there's not enough usage for me to justify it.

You people killing me with the colors. And greens and beans and weens :)
You can tweak each profile.
Even color temperature or hue shift.

There are professional tutorials that help with that.
I made my old 6300 look purpleish or whatever look I wanted.
You can even make it look like S-Cinetone.
For real from pros.

Just… inform yourselves.
Stop that color hype.
Cameras are tweakable.

Also don’t forget that LENSES have also a lot of green antireflection coatings that add up to that “green” looks.
Had the Sigma trio responsible for that.
And most lenses.
Add that on top of the sensor green coating layers.

Wanna why Fujifilm renders nice skin colors?
Just check the coating on their sensor…

It’s by far NO FX3 same sensor.
Same body, sure. Looks, all.
With added features.

Had it been a “smaller” FX3, they would have done something bout that low-light and rolling shutter stuff.

Have the feeling that Sony desperately wants to sell all kind of cameras to all kind of users.

Im owner of a Sony alpha 6300 and i dedicate myself on doing music videos.
Im very keen on changing my work equipment, the one i have in mind is the fx330 or Sony A7iv, i would use it a 99% for filming video, but im very worried about the noise.
At 4k 60 fps does it produce that much noise?
Anyways, its going to be a big change still compared to my 6300

Really enjoyed your video. I used the A74 and the FX3 together on a project recently and found matching them to be more difficult than I expected. A74 was much sharper and I had to do a good bit of work in color grading even though both were shot with a slug three. Any experience you can share?

Is Aperture Priority mode available when taking photos?

The z axis bobs on a gimbal. I'd have to use a gh6 for ibis. If Sony can match ibis I'm theirs.

It’s really good in good light BUT I am actually surprised with how much noise I get in even average light.

Lack of real photo capabilities is a deal breaker. Hoping they throw this sensor into the A6xxx line or an upgraded ZV-E10 that’s not built like a cheap plastic toy, then I’ll buy it. You recommending this cinema camera to photographers is troubling TBH

The external RAW is probably not worth the hassle considering it's cropping into effective a MFT sensor area. Until Sony releases firmware (if they even bother) for open gate 6.2k RAW recording, the internal codecs are of higher quality.

Honestly I dont't really see the point in this camera. The price is fairly close to an FX3 but there's the obvious sensor size difference. For sure the FX30 is a good camera, but the FX3 is better, and the price difference isn't that major in my opinion

Bout to drop the cash on this when the S5II came out of nowhere. Egad for only $200 more. The FX30 is not good value but has some key differences like the live streaming and faster slo-mo. Dang. Will rent both and beat them up. Good vid.

The lowlight performance was a bit disappointing. I feel 6400 is starting to push it

I love my FX30. I've been shooting in Cine EI mode since I got it. I only used XAVC-I when recording someone in front of a green screen. Otherwise, I shoot in XAVC-S. I also use it as a webcam. Everyone comments on how clear and professional my Zoom and Teams footage looks. Also, S-Log 3 is easy to grade in Davinci Resolve, using the Color Space Transform on a timeline set to Davinci WG/Intermediate. The colors are amazing.

Please color grade you footage… it makes it hard to take you review seriously… sorry but I hope it helps you in the future. It’s seems to be only the talking head part it’s very yellow

Now that the panasonic s52 exists i dont even think about this little apsc thing. It can do 6.2 open gate , full frame and the image quality is even better at the same price
