Very pretty but I think they should have chosen something grand and stirring for music.

This is the moment it felt like real history. Handel ringing out gloriously in the Abbey. Wonderful.

Loved the music of Zadok , Charles has always been a Kind man ie the Prince’s Trust to helped so many people, & has always been a great supporter of the environment even back to the 70’s . The census shows nearly half of all marriage’s end in divorce and Charles has paid dearly for marrying the woman he loved .

Such a holy institution made unholy by the presence of a Jezebel and a home wrecker sinner aka Camila. How could christian authority even let her enter such a place! Shame on you all!

A President is your average joe schmoe/jane schmane in a suit and tie or a pantsuit. That's the whole point of a President, that they should be "one of the crowd". A King or Queen, on the other hand, is all about the narrative. Why have logic when you can have magic? Why have practicality when you can have pageantry? Why have average when you can have extraordinary? Why elect some inexperienced schlub or ambitious, cutthroat career politician to the highest office in the land for four to eight years, especially if the Presidency is also purely ceremonial, when you can have the latest King or Queen in a family whose very name, over the centuries, has become synonymous with selfless duty, patriotism, and (ideally) always putting the country's needs before their own selfish wants, and represents an institution that transcends politics?

At the end of the day, these are just regular people who eat, sleep, piss, and shit just like the rest of us. However, once you place these relatively unremarkable people in a fancy military dress uniform or dazzling gown, cloak them in the robes of state, and then place an orb and scepter in their hands and a crown on their heads; boom, you have a god/goddess among the populace, an inspiration to millions, a living breathing personification of the nation.

They comfort the people in times of sorrow, they host all the celebrations in times of joy, they conserve during times of economic hardship, and they take up the mantle of a Supreme General in times of war. When the King or Queen first takes the throne, they are the brother or sister of the current generation, they go on to become the dad or mom of the nation's next generation, then they become the grampy or granny of the generation after that, and sometimes even go on to be the great-grandpa or great-grandma of the generation after that. Whenever there's a coronation, a royal wedding/birth/funeral, or a national holiday, for a fleeting instant, everybody is part of that ongoing narrative, that real-life fairytale. Even some of the people who don't follow the state's official faith find themselves saying "amen" to the prayers being recited by the clerics, who themselves are part of the story of the modern monarchy.

At the end of the day, even the most fervent republicans (with a small R) don't blame the monarchy for their nation's problems (if the members of that institution are doing what they're supposed to do), they blame the "inept, greedy career politicians and that garbage Prime Minister who we voted for specifically because they promised to address our issues".

Here the anthem makes more sense in the context of what is happening than it did at his mother's coronation. The hymn was played (halfway through) as the magnificent garments were removed and the actual anointing began AFTER the hymn

I had sung this piece with a choir that toured extensively throuout Europe years ago and to say it was thrilling would be an understatement. Not only that, but this song was also sung at Carnegie Hall in New York...which added to the thrill of this amazing piece of choral work. Hallelujah!♥️

My favourite piece of music of all time, but how much did that cost the taxpayers? It’s time for royalty to give up the throne, and give the money back they steal from the people, especially those who are in the streets, struggling to survive, those who live in low income housing, and can barely afford to feed themselves and their children, while the Royals worth billions never have to work a day in their life. The time for royalty is over, you already have a Prime Minister and a house of commons, that’s who runs the country, not these elitist, stuck up, arrogant windbags! Centuries ago royalty actually performed as leaders of state, leaders of the military, today, it’s only a ceremonial and they actually serve no practical purpose whatsoever, except to steal money from the hard-working taxpayers, who can barely afford to make ends meet as it is. I was so glad the day my country, Canada, separated from the union, and I still hate that we have a Lieutenant governor! We should cut all loyalty ties, we are an independent nation, and in no way need anything from the UK aside from the regular trade, that we share already. I don’t mean to sound disrespectful to the people of the UK, only to the royalty, which I despise with a passion! After they murdered Diana, and she was murdered, deal with it, I lost every last ounce of respect for any of them! She was the only one I actually liked, so they had to be killed, so Charles could marry that ugly hag? Are you freaking kidding me? It’s time to say bye-bye to Charlie boy, and wake up to reality!

This non-Brit, except by partial heritage, watched and was glad the King and Archbishop who planned the service kept it mostly traditional. Religious without apology and with a nod to history. Involving other Christian denominations (and non-Christians during the exit procession). What you Brits know, but the rest of the world may not is this: the Brit Left (with a tiny minority excepted) wants all this gone. No religious service. Out of the Abbey. No crowning. No robes. Surely no anointing. No Handel, no hymns, a simple presidential style inauguration service. The King in a military uniform and giving some non-controversial address. Something out of Norway will do. See the sour, dyspeptic, hostile editorial in the Leftist Guardian newspaper crapping on the coronation.

Pageantry: Something that England is unsurpassed by any other Country in the world. We are brilliant at it, self discipline from the Monarch (about to be) downards. Timing and execution perfect, not withstanding the slight skid of the crown, but only noticed because of Telephoto TV camera. This is why Britain is Great, and still America in particularly can't get their heads around it.
