You are repeating noise reduction for the first part of noise . So basically you are applying noise reduction on the first part two times and the rest only 1 time. I do not see if this is correct way. What about the noise hidden in entire sound? The noise for the rest of your sound still remains

Coming into the video and already the first couple seconds of audio is shit... not a good sign.

Thank you for the steps and explanation. In my case, the settings that got rid of the background hiss but did not damage the audio were Noise Reduction: 20, Sensitivity: 1.50, Frequency Smoothing: 12.

Excellent video with very clear explanation. The best I have seen. You also mention something that no one else tells you and it is that Audacity Noise reduction does not work with some types of sound like whistle or traffic. I am facing something like this in an old but personally valued video shot in 2012. What can I do to recover audio to a decent level?

But what if I want to reduce noise from full clip, For example what to do if I want to reduce noise coming from audience cheering ? in other words I want to convert one full live concert song to studio version without damaging music and vocals, also want to remove Echo effect coming due to live recording of song
