The disturbing part of the movie for me is what happened during puberty where there was most likely often 15 minutes add breaks whenever he was alone in his room

I'm pretty sure that isn't a makeup bib the travel agent is wearing. I think it was to symbolize to Truman that he had interrupted her having lunch.

Well, I have to take issue about the classical music and copyright thing: It is correct that the actual sheet music is not covered by copyright, but someone actually has to play it. So if you use a recording of (say) the Berlin Symphony Orchestra playing Chopin, the orchestra or the record label have the rights to the recording of that and you will have to pay them to use it!

An other cool fact: Harbor island does not even exist. Truman had to use the boat to travel there, but he was unable to do so.When the movie shows you the whole city, you can see that there is no such thing as harbor island. There were no point to buld it.

I think it was stupid to even have a travel agent in seahaven in the first place. Wouldn't it make waaay more sense not to tell him about travelling at all? I mean how could he know about airplanes and cruise ships and "other places" at all if he would have never been taught?

Could the trees actually survive that long without sunlight? Also they would have to be watered every once in a while, that’s an easy task for production though.

These are so shit

Some aspects of the show don't make sense to me, as in it doesn't make sense why certain characters do certain things or why certain things happen. The rain only on Truman is one, and that chick doing the product placement ad when she and Truman are in the middle of a tense almost argument. Another is how at the bank or wherever it is, how if Truman is constantly monitored how they could have their actor chairs and what not even though they knew he was close and could potebtially come in. There are alot of others but they were just stupid sometimes and made it obvious that something was going on, especially that dumb bitch eith the ad. Pissed me off cause she's so dumb.

Big one yall missed: the bus driver.

The bus driver has to fake the bus breaking down when Truman tries to go to Chicago to take a flight from there to Fiji. But the show can't let him leave so the driver has to sabotage the bus so Truman can't leave. However, the bus driver is remorseful, telling Truman he's sorry. Then later, when the ferry is needed for the show to chase after Truman, the bus driver redeems himself by sabotaging the ferry so Truman can escape.

Really? You think we missed the #14? The whole time we see truman is only thru hidden cams

music.... you'd think music artists would be paying the producers to have their music played on a huge show with a worldwide audience.
edit: a comment below suggests song lyrics may cause truman to question things, because we know songs can do that !

The Psalm 139 thing is a huge stretch of the imagination. It's just the number 139, there is no indication it's anything to do with the psalm.

The Truman show is one of the most liminal movies i sever seen

I always wondered. If he was born into this world, why would they have planes and bridges? Why not just raise him to know that his city is all there is on earth. Vacationing doesn't exist.

id love to see a truman show tv series. im almost shocked no ones ever done it. im srue itd be amazing.

The magnifying glass one doesn't make sense. Back then all TVs were 4:3, and that magnifying glass is "widescreen." Rectangular magnifying glasses are, or at least were, very common.

And the vitamin-D bit is a great detail, but the trees make it even cooler. At first you wonder why Truman needs vitamin D if there are obviously grow lights on the set because otherwise the trees wouldn't grow. But the light that falls appears to be an HMI light, and those emit full spectrum which is enough to grow plants. But unlike most grow lights HMIs have a UV filter because otherwise looking into them could damage actors' eyes. So, the set is lit with grow lights but Truman still needs his vitamins.

You are unfortunately wrong about the tree scene… those are real trees… St. Joe Company is the largest land owner in Florida and pine is regularly cut and harvested for paper and pulp mills. They replant sand pines in rotation all around Florida… they might be know as Arvida MGMT instead of St. Joe Paper Company in 2023. SeaHaven and the entire 30A area is super popular with some great vacation spots for the rich and famous. Also, the bridge scene was filmed in a place called Southport… many of us locals were extras in many scenes.
