Update: Fntastic is back with a kickstarter campaign for a new game called Escape Factory but without myntona backing them this time. Turns out they have learned absolutely nothing. 😂

I only heard about The Day Before in the aftermath of it's release, but it reminded me a lot of a game called No Man's Sky. They made a huge amount of promises, and even made a big fake gameplay trailer. Many interviews filled with lies (that had obvious tells in them, like laughing and nervous fiddeling).
Steam also refunded many people the game.

The best thing about NMS is that it became a meme, the video game equalient of Morbius. People claim it is contantly getting better and better, yet it still lacks basic features promised before it was launched.

Wow, if I had a euro everytime I learn about a live service game that died even sooner than expected, I'd have 14 euros. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened several times, right?

You know what's even crazier: The Gotovstev Brothers are working on a new game and they've sent employment offers to previous employees who worked on The Day Before.....even those who got fired or left the studio on bad terms.

There's probably a record out there for the game with the shortest availability, and The Day Before just shattered that record. The only game I think ever came close was Afro Samurai 2.

The first time I had heard of the Day Before was when Steam sent me an email saying the game was on my wishlist, and was now for sale.
I have no idea how that happened.

Does anyone think about the title already being a red flag? If everything is dead and fucked up, wouldn't that be the days after? Being the day before would be the contagion spreading. Or maybe The Day Before is about how they took a day before throwing it onto the store!

I think the PR guy was the only who got paid. He was able to provide excellent BS to us. Feels like that dude played Among us and was always the imposter and kept manipulating people.

How much hype this game ACTUALLY had? Because I’ve never heard of it before launch, and it seems people were only talking about it possibly being a scam. I also genuinely don’t understand why this game would stand out from the many other zombie shooters out there. Did this really have fans before launch or was all the buzz artificially boosted by bots and journalists?
