The home console ports of X-Men Vs. Street Fighter

Great video as usual, homie.

I still remember when me and my friends went to get this and Bloody Roar so we could spend hrs on hrs mashing and having fun. Once it was time to try out the PS1 port of XVSF, we were shell-shocked. Like, it went from being a tag game to being SF with X-Men characters. Based on our experiences with the Marvel Super Heroes port, we wasn't expecting that much of a downgrade. It's hilarious looking back because man that felt like a sucker punch. We still ended up making the most of it for a bit...then we were back in store playing MSHVSSF again. Fun times.

Seeing Ryu and Cyke shaking hands almost had me screaming. I couldn't believe it was real. I remember when I saw someone playing X-Men COTA and they were fighting Magneto with Akuma. I had no idea who Akuma was back then, but I did know his moves looked like Ryu's. I didn't think much of it, but once I saw XVSF, it all made sense.

Damn u blowing up, I remember you only had like 400 subs like 2 weeks ago.

Such a fun game. Will never forget the first time I saw Ryu doing the Shinku Hado Ken as big láser. Life. Changing.

Thanks for this, to this day i couldn't tell the difference between PS1 and Saturn ports and by extension which one to buy. Are you willing to speak on other Marvel VS Capcom games?

A huge shame this series is mostly legally inaccessible for most people.

Sega Saturn version doesn’t have correct aspect ratio, and it’s version C of the game which removed most of the infinites. Version 2 is the tournament/competitive standard. Also I’m almost positive the Saturn version doesn’t run at quite the right speed. But yeah, it’s miles better than PlayStation port

I am a big fan of the Marvel Vs Capcom series and I grew up with the PSX versions of the classic games

My first capcom vs game was marvel SH vs street fighter on ps1, pretty much most of what is in xmen vs sf applies to that one too.
I love that game, even the iffy ps1 version, I didn't know it was nerfed at the time.

I'll defend the PS1 ports to death. Where I live, the Arcade versions weren't widely available, in fact, I think MvC and MvC2 didn't even make it here(I could be wrong tho), but the PS1 versions were what I had and they got the job done. PLus, it's interesting seeing these games work as 1 on 1 fighters instead... still, I'm so used to it that the Arcade version of MvC 1 just feels awkward to me.

The PS1 version should be thrown in the trash can and the Saturn version is only in Japan with no option to play it in English (not even when you change the language of the Saturn's main menu in English)...

I'm sticking with the original arcade version with Free Play and Event mode turned on and off depending if I have friends over...

So coming back to this video, I do have a question and a suggestion,

Are you going to cover the ports of X-Men Children of the Atom and Marvel Super Heroes like MSHvST and MvC1 or do those not have enough to talk about?

And the suggestion, I actually looked at your Captain Commando video, and I think you actually forgot to show off the PS1 colors for him, so for the MvC1 port video, maybe you could show them when you mention the new colors as an example and to make an addendum to that video?

Even MvC2 on the PS2 and XBOX was kinda disappointing.

It runs more arcade-accurately than the PS1 but the sounds are too muffled and unlocking the heroes (with no master cheat) only ruins the arcade experience.

Please make one for MSH vs Street Fighter!

I want X-men vs Street Fighter 2 with a similar art style to the X-men 97 show.
