Purple Heart Wood😍
New 2 me💜💜💜
Just found this, So awesome to see/hear the beginning and see how you have evolved on this channel Great job.
Side question though, can you explain how to keep Purple Heart - Purple? I keep using it and the color fades, as soon as it gets to the shop. Also, why does it smell so damn bad, when it’s cut. Only has happened once today, and it through me for a loop. Made me question if that board is rotten or something.
...
ОтветитьI have found purpleheart to be a pain in the ass to work with. Terrible tear-out on a planer, easily scorched when cutting. Yeah, it's pretty, but I think I am going to stop using it.
ОтветитьDo spiral router bits help with tearout? It usually takes me a few attempts when I route using a pattern bit even when practicing downhill router, even with new high quality bits it seems the only way I can make it come out nice is route 1/8" deep at a time
ОтветитьJust finished an engagement ring box made out of purpleheart; with basic handtools.
This wood is tough, make sure you get a good plane and chisel. Also, I used Epifanes Marine-grade varnish to protect the color from degrading since it has UV protection built in.
In my area there are still a lot of wood like this which is still growing
Ответитьfound from the North to the Southeast of Brazil, popularly known Roxinho.
greetings from Brazil 👍
To get a deep rich purple color, heat the wood to 225-250 degrees f.
ОтветитьYou should try woodprix plans. You can get your money back if you don't like it
ОтветитьShellac is shiit and should not be used on purple heart!
ОтветитьPurpleheart And satin waterlox go good together
ОтветитьIt stinks bad when sanding it.
ОтветитьSuch a beautiful wood! I've used it for turning pens and cutting boards. I haven't noticed the color changing too much. Maybe some.
ОтветитьPurple Heartwood is not always fully purple throughout.
Sorry to break it down.

I am pretty sure you can still buy handbook with all details you need on woodprix.
Ответитьyou don't have much experience with this wood
ОтветитьIt's my favourite type of wood!
ОтветитьThis is by far the best woodworking book I`ve ever read, “pepe amazing plan” (Google it). My wood working teacher even recommends his scholars to read the book. I am impressed how authors managed to write very detailed topics. The tutorials are clear and easy to follow, the material is interesting.
Ответить”pepe amazing plan” (Google it) is a wonderful book about woodworking. I took various classes as well as finished a one year diploma in carpentry at a local tech college; this is much better than any book I worked out of during those lessons. It includes helpful pictures and goes over just about everything.
ОтветитьI`m retired and own a small shop where I carry out woodturning, produce musical instruments, and some cabinetry. I have a shelf loaded with woodworking books - but I discovered this woodworking guide, “pepe amazing plan” (Google it). It`s the most detailed book I`ve seen. Every subject matter of the book is covered properly.
ОтветитьI have heard that the sanding dust from purple heart is somewhat toxic. I've always wanted to work with some though.
ОтветитьToo bad it smells HORRIBLE
Ответитьi would love to make a shadow box for my medals...
ОтветитьAmaranth
ОтветитьWhat I want to know is where I can get the seeds so I can experiment with growing it as a coppice species
