the name itself "hagia sophia" is a name of a coptic saint "hagia sophia"
islam has nothing but to copy and steal anything from christianity and re-brand it as islam.
just like islam did with their quran.
20 out 25 of islamic prophets were taken from bible and they made new stories in 7th - 11th centuries of their quran and hadiths.

Hagia Sophia is a very important building for Turks as well as Christians. When the British occupied Istanbul, they wanted to give Istanbul to the Greeks, but the British received an unexpected resistance and defeat. The Turks placed dynamite in the secret places of Hagia Sophia. If he had been defeated by the British, he would have blown up this structure. because they did not want to give them the pleasure of owning Hagia Sophia again. Turks always crazy. They do things you least expect, when you least expect it. You stick a knife in the hearts of the Turks and you think you are dead, but then they will get up and chase you. Turks are no joke. It is not like other Muslim countries.Let it not be understood from what I have said that Turks are hostile to Christians and other religions. There are nearly 1360 churches in Türkiye. Which Muslim country has that many churches? only Hagia Sophia was converted into a mosque. If the Turks were not tolerant, they could not have controlled nearly 70 states for 620 years. The one who is friendly with the Turks always wins. After these states left the Turks, they destroyed the mosques built by the Turks. But the Turks have preserved their churches for centuries and they are still standing. If Hagia Sophia is still standing, Christians should thank you. Let me add one more important note. If there are Christians who still dream of Hagia Sophia, the Turks will not give you this pleasure. Even if the last Turk left in the world remains, he will destroy that structure and risk death. Therefore, do not fall into empty dreams and visit the magnificent structure of Hagia Sophia whenever you want.

Just some very big mistakes...Justinian the 2nd??... The country of Istanbul?? ...The empire didn't have kings, but (logically) emperors... Anadolia (also called nowdays), not Turkey, and Syria were the provinces of the Roman empire, not some foreign states...

I was there last month. It is now a functional mosque and one can no longer see anything but the ground floor. Still something to see but when it was a museum there was much more one could enjoy. Anyone visiting, should go across the street and visit the Roman Fresh Water Cistern. Fascinating place and something not to miss if you have an interest in history.

Happy to see Αγία Σοφία well maintained and the removal of entrance fees to make this great temple accessible to the public. People of all cultures and religions should marvel at its beauty.
But I must ask a sincere question here:
Given the fact this Church was built with purpose as a place of worship and symbol for Christianity and specifically Orthodoxy, as well as the fact it has stood for over 900 years as a Christian church, shouldn’t this be reverted back to a neutral temple? I understand it is now Turkey and the temple is here, but to cover away and hide the Christian symbolism and ethos of this church so that it can be turned in to a Mosque almost feels fake and tarnishes the heritage of the church. Don’t we build better relations and corporate better with people by finding a middle ground for our differences?

The fact is that during the last months of Byzantine Constantinople, the Great Church had been avoided by the pious
Orthodox,
who had concluded that their cathedral had been
contaminated by Catholic rites during the celebration of the
union between the Orthodox and Catholic Churches in December 1452....... After the celebration of the union, the church
never functioned properly and was regarded as the abode of demons and as a pagan temple,

" and the Great Church was considered by them to be a refuge of demons and a Hellenic temple. Where were the candles? Where was the oil for the lamps? Everything was in darkness and there was no one to prevent it...........Santa Sophia became a focal point for the Greeks only after the Turks entered the city, when the population flocked there in search of asylum. "

So , the Aya Sofia not stolen by muslims. That building ( Hagia Sophia ) was abandoned by orthodox patriarch and people.
Muslim rulers took abandoned building.

building was church. Land belongs to temple before church.
After victory of Constantinople,it was in the status of "enemy 's property".
Enemy 's property belongs to winner ie Turks. They followed the rules as per the constantine the great.
After victory, Constantine the great demolished pagan temple and build the Hagia Sophia church.
They Turks muslim didn't demolish the church.they just changed the status of hagia Sofia. Be thankful to Turks.

Once upon a time, Anatolia peoples were Greek speaking people. When Christian Roman rulers occupied, the people of Anatolia became Christian by force and cheated manner. The Christian rulers demolished greek's pagan temples through out the Anatolia. The Hagia Sophia church and Hagia Irene building stand at pagan temples. Now no pagan society to claim from Christian destroyer .
After 1071 AD,when muslim Turks ruled Anatolia in place of Christian Romans, the Greek public became muslims.
In this century, the Anatolian people called as Turks ( actually they are Greeks by race , muslims by religion ) by fraud catholic historians and media.
Turks were rulers, not people.the people purely Greeks. The rulers of turk sultan's mothers were orthodox Christian ( mixed with Crimean , tatars , Greeks )

Did you know that there are 238 churches in Istanbul? All of them were protected by the Turks and respectfully maintained. Writing churches in Turkey takes you on a fabulous journey. There are 300 million Turks in the world. And rest assured, more than half of them are not even Muslims. There are also Christian Turks and Greeks in Turkey. Hagia Sophia was converted into a mosque because it was the largest structure in the city. There was never an attack on the churches, as you think. You just need to write churches in Turkey. Try
