Knuckles and decoys have to be dropped in the path of the torpedo.

I really only use missiles if I know I'm going to for sure be detected and fired upon soon after firing myself, otherwise I set up a torpedo attack. ASW aircraft are a pain in the ass once they figure out where you are.

Would an ASW aircraft get a false MADs return if a missle flew under it?

You might have avoided that first torp by fishtailing the bottom of the boat right before impact. Turn into the direction the torpedo came from while going max rise on the planes (ie using the arrow keys you do max down and max right), the aft of the boat would have dropped and that might have been enough for it to miss over the top. BTW if you're going to carry TLAM's you need 8 iirc, since any TLAM strike order is 8 missiles. Taking 6 just means you fail the mission.

Few small notes for next time - retract your towed array just prior to firing off Harpoons, you'll be running like mad and don't want to snap it off. When Helicopters are in the area, fire off that MOSS immediately at surface level and go deep - their air dropped torpedoes will hit the surface and bite off on the MOSS and stay on the surface while you'll be at 800ft+ and the torpedo will never even look your way.

You were a bit casual about the aircraft flying around, especially after launching missiles with them on top of you. Might have been wiser to be pulling shoot and scoot manoeuvers at that point.

On my installation, the sea wolf is like 139 decibels when silent running… how come yours is in the 120s? is there something i need to enable that i didnt?

I do find it amazing how we all know FPSCHAZLY's voice from this game (sonarman). Its great to see hes still playing it after all these years. About time Wolfpack345 did some voice acting for Modern Naval Warfare.

I been watching your channel for a year now, dude the production value you put into your videos are amazing, I absolutely love the IL2 series you do. I know that alot work goes into them but it would be awesome to see you do another one.

Your stern has to be pointed directly at the torpedo in order for the kunckle to work.

This is where "simulations" like this lose me. Hull damage would make the sub combat-ineffective for the duration of the conflict. The refit and repair would take months.

Pro tip: You can use your ballast tanks to avoid torpedos, provided you have sufficient depth below (or above) keel. Your subs ballast alone will let it rise and sink faster than the torps. Takes a bit of practice, i have yet to get it down to a science myself, but i have used this technique to dodge several torps at the same time before.

Bad luck to have that copter right on top of you when you fired that Tomahawk. But sort of expected. After your first salvo, they come looking for you. Since you gotta come shallow to fire the missile, might as well come up a little further and send up ESM and scope. Also, if you're gonna load a MOSS and torpedoes at the same time, delay the torpedoes until you see the MOSS start to load, or put the MOSS in tube one, so it loads first. They were on you right away, so I dunno if you could have gotten it out. A tense and exciting video. Keep 'em coming!

Never underestimate helicopters in the PRC campaign. They can launch torpedoes at you even without throwing sonar buoys!.

I'm addicted to this series. I've never played this kind of game, but I have to get into it. I just put Sea Power on my wish list.

The problem with sub sims is you don't have an XO to belay stupid orders you give, like ordering your sub below crush depth or forgetting to retrieve your towed array 🙂

Your initial attacks on the defending escorts was perfect ! (Chiefs kiss)
However you failed to clear the missile datum quick enough or reposition or use a distraction aka a Moss which allowed the airborne forces find and attack you
Alternatively you could have followed up the missile barrage with torpedoes

Hey Wolfpack: next time go to the test depth of 1968’. It is significantly deeper than any weapon that the enemy can shoot at you besides Russian heavy weight torpedoes (USET80 or TEST 71). The Chinese light and heavyweight torpedoes will merely implode trying to get to you.
