I have thousands of hours in gpl, especially in the 90s and early 2000s, hard to beat for historic atmosphere.
ОтветитьGT Legends?
ОтветитьGPL has soul
ОтветитьKiitos!/Thank you! GPL my longest love ;)
ОтветитьHi, do you have a link for the Assetto Corsa Pitboard mod? many thanks in advance
ОтветитьAMS2 for me in VR, that's what I do.
Ответитьi think the new ams2 1.5 update brought it as close to the old feel of gpl as anything i have tried
ОтветитьIs it worth revisiting this video as I think apart from GPL, almost all the others have had updates/ new mods(?), especially AMS2.
ОтветитьLove your content bro
ОтветитьI'm late to the party, but considering vintage mods i have been trying to cross over some cars from the power and glory mod to work with the wsc 1970s mod in GTR 2 with no luck. I'm old and not too tech savvy so i was hooing to ask for help. It is for my own personal use. Thanks.
ОтветитьI like vintage races, I love racing in vintage tracks, is a grat experience than modern races.
ОтветитьJust want to let you know I started out watching your vidsa few years ago and ended up buying a wheel and pedals. There is something cathartic about racing.
ОтветитьUnderrated channel. Thank you Jake for the amazing work.
ОтветитьBest sim racing channel out there. Many thanks for you efforts.
ОтветитьJochen Rindt, Jackie Stewart, Holmes ... that brings back memories...!
ОтветитьWow, so nice video. You are so excellent talking and driving at the same time. You are all in control. Congrats. Like you, my favorite car ever is the Lotus 49. I played a lot Pcars 2, I tried Assetto Corsa (don't like it) and now I enjoy so much AMS 2 in the Vintage Model 12 car instead of the Lotus 49. I like the sound of this car. I think Reiza are excellent reproducing historic tracks. I only drive historic tracks, I love them. Looking at your video, AMS 2 is the best one for sponsors along the track. I played years GPL too but can't go back to this sim because of the poor graphics for today's technology. Thank you so much for this video.
ОтветитьWhy didn't you do Assetto Corser 2???
ОтветитьWow, so cool :) I'm very into old F1 cars, and much into simracing, but never combined these two. Sad i have only the PS5 and not a very good pc, so I think I won't be able to play this :( but I will follow your videos, thank you :)
ОтветитьI see that on a straight line, you have always to turn constantly the steering wheel, except with GPL. Is it because the asphalt are bunnpy on the other games ?
Ответитьi would say PC2 has a nice range of classic f1 cars (exclusively lotus) and classic cars including:
GT
LMP
STREET
sometime, in the future, I would to team up with other modders and make proper 1967 season cars and even tracks. Pessio Garage here!
ОтветитьGreat video buddy! Just getting back into sim racing so this video was great to see. Love your knowledge of the sport. Subscribed!
ОтветитьI really had to work on getting GPL tuned but once I got it, I never looked back. I loved that sim and all the mods. Racing online was simply incredible! These days I race Assetto Corsa on PlayStation 4 pro and have a Next Level Racing rig with Fanatec gear. I love it! :-)
ОтветитьAlways a slow start in AC? It can be if you just dump the clutch without proper throttle and clutch control. The engine should stall with a bang but in AC the engine just bogs down to a very slow start.
I tried a few lauches in this car and reached 100kmh in just over 3 seconds. For the launch I kept the revs around 8000rpm and let the clutch out 1/4 while giving more gas when needed. From 0,5 to 2,5 seconds I let the clutch slip at 50% or less while controlling wheel spin with the gas pedal at around 80-90%.
When the clutch was finally fully disengaged the car was going almost 80kmh. If you're used to manual road cars where you use the clutch just to nudge the car forward from a standstill such abuse might feel wrong but the clutch in AC is more like a sport bike clutch. You can let it slip all you want to control power delivery to the rear wheel(s) while keeping the revs at a sweet spot.
The clutch is no doubt the most challenging of pedals. With no force feedback or G-forces it's really just about practice and muscle memory. I'm glad my dad started teaching me the art and intricacy of clutch work when I was around 12. I did the same with my son.
omg heretic ;) , iracing do have the monza combined historic .. only remains the ascari chianes but other chicanes are removed.
ОтветитьThese have to be the most interesting simracing videos I've ever seen! Thank you for teaching us so much about the history of this sport :D
Ответитьwhat about raceroom?his vintage cars are great to drive although tracks are contemporary
ОтветитьIracing does have the classic layouts with the oval. Maybe an idea to try it out. I believe that only ascari is different from the real old school circuit.
Ответитьthey do have historic monza in iracing though
ОтветитьExcellent, thanks
ОтветитьMy main reason for watching this was to see the difference in how the AI behaves. I play AC almost exclusively, but I also have rFactor 2 and AMS 2. I do a lot of AI races because public lobbies in AC can be... pretty mood-killing, and I'm not a part of a league to race better drivers.
From what I see, AMS 2 has outstanding AI. I've complained about how bots race since I started driving sims way back in the 90s. It seems to me that AMS 2 has actually made the racing competitive with AI, without making them overly aggressive. Seeing a driver actually squeeze you on the front stretch without driving through you was impressive.
Guess it's time to install AMS and give AC a rest for a while lol
how do these sims compare to Power n Glory?
ОтветитьOn iRacing you should have used Monza Combined layout, that has the oval
Ответитьahh GPL's done 1000's of laps of Monza... only ever won 2 seven lap races in full GP mode in Jacks Brabham (aussie here whoused to watch him live at Warwick Farm Tasman Series) the sense of elation of winning those 2 races was amazing... never lost the desire to try again
ОтветитьWe're passed from the selfmoving gearstick of GPL to the onehand wheelhold of GT7.
And, actually I prefer the first: there's no way to hold a wheel with only one hand while racing
Excellent comparison. Thank you.
ОтветитьGPL for sure... Still great.
ОтветитьProject Cars 2 had a great version of this.
ОтветитьFantastic channel and vid. Do you have a hard time setting ffb up to be similar across the sims? My ac and ams2 feel really different in the same car.
ОтветитьAMS2 Monza 71 does feel narrow, but if you spend some time walking it you will see just how narrow it is in real life. The rf2 and AC versions compromise the width of the track to aid limitations in the AI. It's a known trick when developing a track of either of those sims; the AI cannot cope with tracks which have large swings between the widest and narrowest parts of the track. Do not get me wrong, AMS2 has many AI issues still left to sort, but at least they are staying true to the original track as the available data can provide.
ОтветитьI will not be buying or even playing rFactor2 until the current owners are gone. Motorsport Games has ruined the sim-racing landscape to the extent I would prefer to see all their products fail, no matter how good or bad, rather than feed the evil that is MSG.
With luck the MSG titles will be rescued by a group with better intent than to milk licences to provide an income for just two people and end up producing nothing.
I rediscover rfactor 1 for vintage mod 55,67,DRM tracks bremgarten, spa (rf2 quality)... i like retrogaming ;)
ОтветитьWell, I'm sure you'll be toying around a fair bit with AC given the new update for the AI. This might be a bit of a cliched combo, but i was thinking that another possible comparison combo could be mid/late '60s Sportscars at Old Spa. And even if iRacing only has current Spa, in some ways, I think that may be closer to the older track than the chicaned version of Monza actually is. But anyway, just make sure to keep having fun.
ОтветитьI was surprised when you said the car drives really similar in most of the games. Of these, I only have AMS 2 and AC, and I remember the car being way less lively in AMS 2. Definitely could be that it was changed in an update after I last drove it though.
Ответитьu dont have a perfect sim because u dindt play rbr, just saying
ОтветитьOf the sims reviewed, I only have experience with AC and iRacing. I'm more of a vintage GT fan than GP fan, and for that I turn to PCars2. They have historic layouts for Le Mans, Spa, Monza, and Hockenheim as well as Rouen les Essarts.
ОтветитьOh and I've got a question concerning GPL, is there a way to get trackir running with the modded car sets? I can get it running with the vanilla cars and a mod not sure what it's called, GPshift or something like that, but when trying out the 69 or 67x cars, it won't work.
It's no biggy really just a luxury problem at best, but would be need if someone has a fix :)
