As someone who has Read the Manga in it’s entirely, I can say that the Manga is Superior to the Anime, and that the anime is a sin.

Rosario Vampire fans didn’t like the anime because it strayed too far away from the manga. From what I’ve seen of the manga I’m disappointed, but at the same time the anime is nostalgic to me.

See I wouldn’t have minded the extra fan service shown in the anime if they kept in remotely any of the original plot and character development. My biggest problem with the anime is the lack of character development. Kurumu for example goes through MANY significant changes in the manga and she ended up becoming one of my favorite characters. Compare that to her anime counterpart who’s just a bitchy mean girl waifu. And Tsukune was done SO DIRTY with the anime. He goes through so many changes in the Manga he’s a completely different character at the end. And this is NEEDED because he’s supposed to be not the most likable at the beginning. If you are going to experience this story at all PLEASE read the manga.

My take? Sure, fanservice anime is fine, but Rosario Vampire deserved to have a serious adaption of it’s story. It’s like adding fanservice to a movie adaption of To Kill A Mockingbird. The material matters when adapting it. If you want a silly fanservice anime, adapt one of the many explicitly ecchi mangas that exist in the medium. Rosario Vampire wasn’t it.

Granted, Rosario Vampire as a manga wasn’t some masterclass of literature, and it did have a lot of comedy. But - at it’s core, it was a compelling and serious story of love and friendship. It should have had a more accurate adaption.

You pronounce a bunch of their names wrong which is fine.. but they call each others name hundreds of times in the show so I don’t understand how
