If you prefer stuff, more than living space, you should buy a warehouse (or museum) instead of a house. If you don't want to clean a kitchen, just put a tiny efficiency in your warehouse and eat out all the time. Perhaps join a community with cafeterias and common washing rooms maintained by other people like a campground. If you want to spend time with visiting family, find cheap hotels or rent a camper.

Also, if you want to live in a junkyard, you have to buy property that has zoning for junkyards. And even junkyards have limits.

As a hoarder (recovering) I can say that if the stuff you buy to help others stays in your house, then you need to rethink that strategy.

When you don't use some clothes or something you have for a year or two years, that means you do not need it for the rest, so toss them out or at least donate them.

They've got this old woman all wrong. They think the house state is making her miserable. No, it's her miserable attitude to life that's made the house like that. Some old people, especially women, just get fed up with family after a certain age and think it's time for what they want. And the only way to keep family away is to hoard out the house.

My MIL lives in a hoard. She's in her 80's and would prefer to live in her hoard then spend time with her grandchildren. Seems to be a theme.
