Still not a good plan, we got so much shortage in construction industry but intake is still zero in that sector, whereas there are very few jobs in IT but intake is till substantial, still not happy.

YES....CUT DOWN USELESS MIGRANTS WHO ONLY COME TO AUSTRALIA TO RECEIVE WELFARE BENEFITS without skills or refused working. Include MUSLIMS WHO TAKE WIVES FROM OVERSEAS TO ADD UP TO THEIR EXISTING.WIVES.

The pre-pandemic levels of immigration were at a record high. The average intake during the 2nd half of the last century was 70,000 pa. Bringing in a million people in 4 years is just evil.

Australia does not need skilled workers. Australia needs semi-skilled and unskilled workers because most Australians prefer not to do those types of jobs.

It needs to be a quarter of what it is (with tighter regulations on driver licences [ban international licences - make people sit australian licences], vehicle ownership, housing ownership, background checks [more deportation powers], cultural integration programs [mixed cultures are great - but often become the targets of anti-progressive behavior], more comprehensive checks on whether qualifications/skills are legitimate - even testing where appropriate) otherwise the demand for infrastructure will never be out-stripped by a surplus which is where production efficiency is improved drastically and quality of living.

Will any of this help older Australian women and families living in tents? Unlikely. There will be another visa scam after the 'student to buy residency visa' scam. Australian educational institutions should only be for Australian citizens, it should not be a system where cashed up foreigners have the advantage..😡

Good day,

An immigration agent told me that all people who applied for 482 visas outside Australia are in for a disappointment as the Immigration Department is NOT prioritising offshore applications. This means the processing times are going back to the previous 3 to 6 months timeframes. People getting 482 visas in a few days or weeks is NOW A THING OF THE PAST in 2024.

This immigration agent says he is 100% certain as he has people 'he knows in the department'. Not sure how true this is but if it is, this is bad news for you people waiting for those 482 visas. Your employers might probably retract on those job contracts.

Came over to Australia, studied accounting, got a job in my field, attained superior english, integrated well within my community.

Only to lose a PR spot to someone in aged care who'll quit their job as soon as they get PR 😂😂

Good for Australia because it's one more apartment space open, but it still sucks 😂

Many of the skills we need are digital and we don't need migration to fill those roles. Trust me, many Australians will be out of work in a few years due to ai and automation. We need to get ahead of that curve fast. That is not done by bringing in more people. It is getting the people we have better connected to physical assets.

Who, other than the immigrants themselves, gains from population increase?
Is is reasonable to ask the whole Australian community to share the very real costs of immigration, so that a few capitalists can have more people working for them and a bigger return on their investments?

Extensive economic growth leads to nowhere. Bring back the debate about demography and sustainability, including social and environmental. The honest debate! What kind of society do people who already live in the country want in 10 years in 50 years? That should be the point of departure. You do not owe anything to anyone. This is your country, claim it!

Australia belongs to the Oceania region and should allow migrants from their own Oceania region first, including New Zealand, Fiji, and other Pacific countries.

it's too late now. all the cities in the western world are no longer theirs, for instant if you catch a suburban train in Sydney you can hardly spot a true blue Aussie's, so I guess there are no longer France, Sweden, Denmark anymore, all the native people disappeared into the thin air, no more traditions of any countries but a bunch of something. I hope to put Angela M in jail for destroying Germany.

Well the way they are putting a cap on visa is unethical. Like in 2021, I applied for 476 skilled recognised visa and like many others I waited for my visa decision for two years but on 22 december they said that we are putting a cap on this visa and no more grants will be given, all pending applicants will receive a refund. But, the question is if they were not willing to give a visa then why did they waste my 2 years? Who will return that time to me? Is it fair for a developed nation to adopt such a behaviour? Today they will return visa application fee but who will return my medical and extra taxes fee? It is a request to media to kindly highlight this issue many applicants like me are struggling currently due to this unethical and unfair decision.

I really wanted to visit Australia, but as Lithuanian citizen, its not in eligible country to get WOH visa, sadly. Puts in perspective to get quite costly Skills visa and just wait for a chance. But sponsors and employers too, like throwing dart in the board like that. Anyone has decent idea how to legally would be possible (having tourist visa) approach employers and somehow do practice ? :D
